Story Context
Walt’s farewell is appropriately bittersweet:
“Westguard needs to know what’s going on here. I want you to personally deliver the news to Captain Adams. Whenever you’re ready, let me know and I’ll put you back in the construct for one final flight. It’ll take you to Westguard Keep, but more than likely blow up in the process. It’s been a pleasure…”
The construct was never built for longevity. It was a desperate improvisation by a handful of Explorers’ League survivors to steal data from under the iron dwarves’ noses. Now that its mission is complete, Walt sacrifices his creation to get word to Westguard as fast as possible.
Captain Adams’ reaction upon hearing your report reveals how dire the situation has become:
“Wonderful… As if having the Scourge all up our you-know-whats wasn’t enough, now we got some angry ancient titan construct to deal with! I’ll need some time to chew on this information.”
The Alliance came to Northrend to fight the Lich King. Now they’ve discovered something potentially worse: Loken, a corrupted titan keeper commanding an army of iron dwarves, working to free an imprisoned Old God. The Scourge suddenly feels like the lesser threat.
Easter Egg: Rocket Man
This is linked to Elton John’s “Rocket Man” (1972). You’re literally being launched across Howling Fjord in a sputtering construct that Walt admits will “more than likely blow up.” The song is about isolation and sacrifice and fits the moment surprisingly well.
“And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time…”
Quest Chain Complete
This quest concludes the entire Iron Rune Constructs storyline:
The information you gathered at Baelgun’s Excavation Site will eventually reach the Explorers’ League central base in Dragonblight, setting up later storylines that culminate in the assault on Ulduar.

He said it the way someone might mention rain in the forecast.
“It’s been a pleasure.”
I climbed back into the barrel suit one last time. The smell had become almost familiar. The construct launched from the rune platform, arced across Howling Fjord, and began coming apart somewhere over the western bluffs. I hit the ground in a scatter of shoveltusk hide and vrykul steel, rolling clear of the wreckage.
Captain Adams was on the second floor of Westguard Keep. I’d met him briefly in Valgarde. He read Walt’s report in silence, then looked up.
“Wonderful. As if having the Scourge all up our you-know-whats wasn’t enough, now we got some angry ancient titan construct to deal with!” He set the report down. “I’ll need some time to chew on this information, night elf. In the meantime there’s plenty of work that needs doing here.”
Loken. The iron dwarves. A “Father” waiting to be freed. And now it fell to Westguard Keep to understand what it meant.
I was done smelling like burned leather.
Near the outpost a gryphon handler had a wild bird that would let nobody near it, which had nothing to do with the war and everything to do with the fact that Trust is Earned.
