WotLK Classic Icecrown Gold Farming Guide | Best Spots & Routes

Icecrown rewards knowing a few specific pull spots more than optimizing a route, the difference between a clean rooftop pull and a sloppy one compounds over a session. Here are the spots, with coordinates.

Main Locations

Lichbloom & Icethorn (Top-Tier Herbs)

• Icecrown is a strong alternative to Storm Peaks for farming Lichbloom and Icethorn, both appear in the same spawn nodes, with Icecrown offering less competition in some cases.
• Needed for flask crafting, they command the highest herb prices all expansion.

Titanium Ore Mining 

• The zone hosts the rare Titanium Ore, the most valuable ore in Northrend. The high-level area sees fewer casual miners, improving profit margins.
• Titanium veins can give all four Crystallized element types.

Arctic Cloud Harvesting (Engineering)

• Icecrown’s gas clouds provide constant access to Crystallized Air and Water for engineers with the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor. It’s a crucial stop on elite farming circuits, with fewer competitors due to the zone’s difficulty.
• Engineering Requirement: Must have Zapthrottle Mote Extractor from TBC

Elite Humanoid Mob Farming (Frostweave & Gold)

1. Converted Heroes (Valley of Fallen Heroes): The Valley of Fallen Heroes, southwest of the Argent Tournament grounds, between Aldur’thar and the Ironwall Rampart (50, 41), is widely considered the best Frostweave farm in Icecrown.
   • Fallen Hero’s Spirits drift through as yellow, non-aggressive ghosts, then Scourge Converters grip them into red, hostile Converted Heroes that pack into groups of seven to eight with fast respawns. For an AoE class, that’s ideal: pull a full group, drop your area damage, and a stack of Frostweave comes together in a few minutes.
   • The mobs can be stunned, and a Tailor with Northern Cloth Scavenging roughly doubles the yield. Watch for the caster mob mixed into the packs. It doesn’t melee, so it lingers at range during AoE pulls.
2. The Corp’rethar region near the Western chapel (~43.4, 52.1) is teeming with elite humanoids that drop Frostweave Cloth, valuable crafting greens, and decent raw gold.
3. Dark Zealots & Dark Ritualists (Northeastern Icecrown): In the upper northeast at (63.4, 22.4), near the Argent Tournament grounds, small camps of Dark Zealots and Dark Ritualists (around level 80) drop Frostweave as a quieter alternative when the Converted Heroes camp is crowded. Lower density than the Valley, but far less competition.
4. Nerubian Chitin Skinning: The skinnable beetles and spiders that are found in great numbers outside of the Argent Vanguard. Icecrown is the open-world home of Nerubian Chitin, one of the expansion’s specialty leathers, used in Leatherworking leg armors and epic recipes. The beetles and spiders die fast for a level 80 and skin for Borean Leather with Chitin on top, and demand climbs alongside the other specialty skins as crafting phases advance.

Best AoE XP + Gold Grinding Spots

Aldur’thar: The Desolation Gate (49.8, 33.4)

• Great for killing Cult Alchemist and Damned Apothecary; excellent XP and cloth yields for AoE-capable classes.
• High survivability is key when pulling here. 

Onslaught Harbor (10.4, 44.9)

• Farmable from level 79, unlike the elite camps deeper in the zone. Farm a circular loop around the harbor.
• Standing on top of the pillars gives access to 6+ Onslaught Gryphon Rider mobs at once, but ranged abilities are crucial.
• At the stairs (9.5, 44), you can pull a lot of Onslaught Paladin mobs. Line of sight pull into (9.6, 45) a nook behind the entrance stairs toward the Cathedral building.

Profession Pairings

• Herbalism + Mining: Lichbloom, Icethorn, Saronite, and Titanium Ore are all dense across Icecrown. This is the straightforward high-value pairing.
• Engineering + Herbalism or Mining: Arctic Cloud gas spawns are scattered through the zone. Engineers can pick these up between herb or mining nodes for Crystallized Air and Water.
• Tailoring (passive): Northern Cloth Scavenging procs extra Frostweave from the humanoid Scourge camps. This works alongside any profession setup since it triggers automatically.

Market Timing

• Lichbloom + Icethorn: Flask crafting drives demand, and prices spike during new raid tier progression when every raider is restocking.
• Titanium Ore: Used for Titansteel cooldowns, epic gem prospecting, and high-end Blacksmithing recipes. Low supply because veins are rare and contested. Sells well all expansion.
• Frostweave Cloth: The elite Scourge camps in Icecrown drop it faster than anywhere else. Frostweave Bags never stop selling.

Farming Techniques

Icecrown rewards learning specific pull strategies over route optimization. Orb-pull spots and rooftop pulls at the Scourge buildings let you gather large groups for AoE without extra packs wandering in. Two or three reliable pull locations are worth more than a perfect route, because the gold-per-hour gap between a clean pull and a sloppy one compounds over a full session.

Gathering Circuits

In-zone, treat every Saronite vein as Titanium’s placeholder. Clearing it is a fresh roll on your next lap.

Icecrown also anchors the endgame core loop (Icecrown → Storm Peaks → Wintergrasp when controlled → back), a gas cloud route for Engineers, and a Titanium vein route shared with Storm Peaks and Sholazar. • Gas Cloud Route: Icecrown → Storm Peaks → Howling Fjord → Dragonblight. For Engineers farming Crystallized Air and Water specifically.
• Titanium Route: Titanium veins share spawn points with Saronite in Icecrown, Storm Peaks, and Sholazar Basin. Fly the known vein locations in a loop. When a Saronite node occupies a Titanium spawn point, mine it to give the Titanium a chance to appear on your next pass.

Preparation

• Bring health potions and food buffs, elite mobs hit hard enough that pulling without consumables costs you in recovery time.
• Set up a macro to toggle Find Herbs and Find Minerals. Engineers get cloud tracking for free: the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor marks clouds on the minimap automatically while it sits in your bags, alongside whatever tracking you have active.
• If your spots are contested, the Storm Peaks circuit is a complete fallback session on its own, not just a backup.
