Objective: Recover Walt’s Building Tools at Ivald’s Ruin.

Walkthrough

1. Accept quest from Walt at Explorers’ League Outpost.
2. Head northeast to Ivald’s Ruin (the iron dwarf dig site).
3. Enter from the southwest entrance and descend the ramp into the excavation pit.
4. Look for a wooden plank ramp leading up to the construction platform.
5. Follow the planking around the central stone pillar/statue.
6. The Building Tools are at [79, 47] on the second level, next to a wheelbarrow.
7. Return to Walt at Explorers’ League Outpost.

No Sparkle Warning: Unlike most quest objects, the Building Tools bucket does NOT have the typical interactive glow. It looks like an ordinary pail sitting on the wooden platform. Keep your eyes open for a plain bucket near the wheelbarrow.

Tips

• Combo Quest: Before grabbing the tools, head to the south side of the dig site at [79, 49] and pick up Out of My Element? from Donny. You’ll need to kill Iron Rune Destroyers, Laborers, and Sages anyway while navigating to the tools.
• Efficient Route: Kill your way down to the tools, then finish mopping up kills on your way out. This completes both quests in one trip.

Story Context

Walt reveals his ambitious plan:

“I’ve been studying this deactivated construct for days. I think I can create a reasonable facsimile of the golem that would have room inside to fit one passenger. The idea being that it would fool those iron dwarves and allow us to get inside Baelgun’s.”

Walt left his tools behind at Ivald’s Ruin when the iron dwarves first attacked, forcing his team to retreat. Now he needs them to build an infiltration suit: a replica iron dwarf construct that a player can pilot to sneak past enemy lines. This is the beginning of a questline that will eventually put you inside a mechanical suit, walking among hostile iron dwarves undetected.

Upon turning in, Walt confirms the next phase:

“Now that I’ve got my tools, the building can begin. Well, as soon as I have some materials. You’ll be getting those for me next.”
