Objective: Use the Iron Rune Construct’s Bluff ability on Lebronski after walking on his rug.

Walkthrough

1. Accept quest from Walt.
2. Right-click the Empty Work Bench behind Walt.
3. Select the dialogue option to enter the construct.
4. Walk to Lebronski (about 10 feet northwest of Walt, near the campfire).
5. Step directly onto his rug on the other side of the fire.
6. WAIT for Lebronski to speak (he’ll protest about you stepping on his rug).
7. Once he starts complaining, press 1 (or click the Bluff ability).
8. Lebronski will respond with confusion, and the quest completes.
9. Dismiss the construct from the pet window.
10. Turn in to Walt.

Timing Matters

The most common failure point is using Bluff too quickly:

1. Step on the rug
2. WAIT for Lebronski’s dialogue to trigger
3. THEN use Bluff

If you spam the ability immediately upon reaching the rug, it won’t register. You must wait for Lebronski to react first.

Tips

• Rug Location: Lebronski stands near a campfire. His rug is on the ground in front of him (on your side of the fire).
• He’s Friendly: Lebronski wears a green shirt and is non-hostile. You’re not attacking him, just annoying him.
• Action Bar Addon Issues: If Bluff isn’t appearing, disable Bartender/Dominos/ElvUI or just press hotkey 1 directly.
• Hovering Bug: If you have any buff that lifts you off the ground (like Path of Frost), you may not be “on” the rug. Disable such effects.

Story Context

Walt explains the construct’s backup defense system:

“You always gotta have a contingency plan in case your main plan backfires! That’s why I’ve built in some anti-intelligence systems into the construct. Your shiny new ride might rouse some suspicion while you’re at Baelgun’s excavation site. That’s what your bluff ability is for! Just use that any time you’re confronted and you’ll be safe from harm.”

If iron dwarves question why a construct is acting strangely, the Bluff ability emits some kind of deterrent (Walt calls it “anti-intelligence”) that makes them lose interest. Poor Lebronski serves as the test subject because he’s known to get agitated easily.

Easter Egg: The Big Lebowski’s Rug

This quest directly recreates one of the most famous scenes from the 1998 Coen Brothers film The Big Lebowski.

In the movie, the protagonist Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski owns a rug that, in his words, “really tied the room together.” Thugs urinate on it during a case of mistaken identity, setting the entire plot in motion. The rug becomes a running obsession throughout the film.

Blizzard recreated this scenario:

• Lebronski = Jeffrey Lebowski (The Dude)
• The rug = “It really tied the room together!”
• You (the construct) = The thugs who ruined his rug
• Walt (quest giver) = Walter Sobchak (The Dude’s aggressive friend)

Look closely and you’ll even notice a suspicious pile in the middle of the rug, suggesting someone’s pet had an accident there. Classic Lebowski humor.

Quest Chain Complete

With this tutorial finished, you’ve mastered all three construct abilities:

1. Rocket Jump (Transportation via rune pads)
2. Collect Data (Gathering information from relics)
3. The Bluff (Escaping confrontation)
