• Drops from: Any vrykul in Nifflevar OR Baleheim
• Nifflevar location: Around [67, 54] (Dragonflayer vrykul)
• Baleheim location: Around [65, 40] (Winterskorn vrykul)
• Drop rate: Variable. Some get it in 2-3 kills; others report needing 10-15+. RNG dependent.

Pristine Shoveltusk Hide

• Drops from: Any shoveltusk in Howling Fjord
  • Shoveltusk Calf
  • Shoveltusk (regular)
  • Shoveltusk Stag
• Common locations: Open plains between the vrykul villages and Explorers’ League Outpost
• Drop rate: Low but consistent across all shoveltusk types

Recommended Strategy

Since this quest runs parallel to We Can Rebuild It, complete both simultaneously:

1. Head northwest toward Baleheim for the rope (We Can Rebuild It)
2. Kill Winterskorn vrykul along the way for Steel Ribbing
3. Continue south to Nifflevar for the barrel
4. If you still need Steel Ribbing, kill Dragonflayers here
5. Kill any shoveltusks you encounter during travel for the hide
6. Finish both quests by grabbing the Dark Iron Ingots from McGoyver in Valgarde

Tips

• Efficient Combo: Do this quest alongside We Can Rebuild It. You’re traveling through vrykul villages anyway for the rope and barrel. Kill vrykul opportunistically while collecting materials.
• Shoveltusk Locations: Herds roam the grassy areas between Nifflevar and Explorers’ League Outpost. You’ll likely pass them naturally.
• All Types Drop It: Don’t waste time hunting specific shoveltusk variants. Calves, regulars, and stags all have comparable drop rates.
• Bad Luck Protection: If RNG isn’t cooperating, focus on clearing vrykul groups efficiently rather than running between sparse spawns.

Story Context

Walt explains why these materials matter:

“While the infrastructure for a piece of machinery like this is important, we can’t underestimate the appearance of the construct. If we’re to fool the iron dwarves the clone must be exact!”

The shoveltusk hide will serve as the construct’s outer “skin,” giving it the leather-metal texture of an authentic iron dwarf golem. The steel ribbing from vrykul armor provides the metallic framework visible on the exterior. Combined with the barrel, rope, and ingots from the parallel quest, Walt will have everything needed to build a convincing disguise.

Easter Egg: The Six Million Dollar Man

This quest title, paired with its companion “We Can Rebuild It,” completes the famous opening narration from The Six Million Dollar Man (1973-1978):

“Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology.”

The show follows Steve Austin, a former astronaut rebuilt with bionic implants after a near-fatal crash. Walt is essentially doing the same thing, “rebuilding” you into an iron dwarf construct to infiltrate enemy territory.
