“Navigating the steep bluffs of Howling Fjord can be nerve-racking! I’ve come up with a solution to ease that burden by utilizing vrykul technology and dwarven ingenuity. With just a few adjustments and some fine tuning I’ve created Icehammer’s harpoon controller! Of course it hasn’t been tested, but that’s what you’re here for!
Take the controller to the big gun in Nifflevar and use it to launch yourself into Valgarde. Report your victory to Zorek. Oh yea, you can keep the controller.”

Story Context
Icehammer has combined vrykul technology with dwarven ingenuity to create an unconventional travel method:

“Take the controller to the big gun in Nifflevar and use it to launch yourself into Valgarde. Report your victory to Zorek. Oh yea, you can keep the controller.”
Upon returning to Valgarde:
“You are insane, <name>! What kind of degenerate would actually launch themselves from a harpoon gun as a method of travel?”
“But I guess you need to be a little crazy to pull off what you did up there on the bluffs! Fantastic work! We’ve gotten word that the Dragonflayer leader, Ingvar, is furious! Maybe one day you’ll be ready to stomp his face into the dirt – in the name of our beloved Alliance.”
Easter Egg: Beach Boys Reference
The quest title “Let’s Go Surfing Now” references The Beach Boys‘ 1962 hit “Surfin’ Safari“. The opening line of the chorus is:
“Let’s go surfin’ now, everybody’s learning how, come on and safari with me…”
The visual of riding a flaming harpoon through the sky also evokes the iconic scene from Stanley Kubrick’s 1964 film Dr. Strangelove, in which Major Kong rides a nuclear bomb rodeo-style while whooping “Yeehaw!” as it plummets toward its target.
Some aspects of this quest reference the “you surf or you fight” scenes from Apocalypse Now (1979). Charlie don’t surf.
Chain Summary: Harpoon Master
Chain Payoff: The completion dialogue reveals that Ingvar the Plunderer, leader of the Dragonflayer clan, is furious about your assault. Zorek hints that you may face Ingvar directly someday, foreshadowing the climactic battle against him in Utgarde Keep.

Vikstone's War JournalIcehammer handed me what looked like a modified harpoon controller.

“Navigating these steep bluffs can be nerve-racking. So I’ve come up with a solution. Vrykul technology and dwarven ingenuity. With just a few adjustments and some fine tuning, I’ve created Icehammer’s harpoon controller!”
I looked at the device. Looked at the massive harpoon gun pointed toward Valgarde.
“Of course it hasn’t been tested,” he added. “But that’s what you’re here for! Take the controller to the big gun and launch yourself into Valgarde. Report your victory to Zorek.”
He patted my arm.
“Oh yea, you can keep the controller.”
I didn’t ask questions. Sometimes it’s better not to.
The launch was exactly as terrifying as it sounds. Wind ripping past, the fjord spinning beneath me, the harbor rushing up faster than seemed survivable. I landed in the water near the docks, intact.
Zorek stared at me.
“You are insane! What kind of degenerate would actually launch themselves from a harpoon gun as a method of travel?” He shook his head, then laughed. “But I guess you need to be a little crazy to pull off what you did up there on the bluffs. Fantastic work!”
I wrung the seawater from my cloak.
The vrykul were furious and Ingvar wanted blood, though the living were not the only ones with answers, and a shaman back at Valgarde reckoned he could get Vikstone Into the World of Spirits where the dead vrykul were still restless.
