Quest Giver: Lieutenant Icehammer northwest of Nifflevar

Objective: Use a vrykul harpoon gun to destroy the Dragonflayer Longhouse, Dragonflayer Dockhouse, and Dragonflayer Storage Facility in Wyrmskull Village. Kill 8 Dragonflayer Defenders. Return the Harpoon Control Mechanism to Icehammer.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Find the Correct Harpoon

Head to the NORTHERNMOST harpoon building on the bluffs of Nifflevar. Look for harpoon guns at approximately [64, 52] or [64, 54].

IMPORTANT: Avoid the harpoon with the large lever nearby. That lever is used for the follow-up quest Let’s Go Surfing Now.

Step 2: Mount the Harpoon

Use the Harpoon Control Mechanism from your inventory while standing next to a harpoon gun. This “mounts” you into the vehicle, replacing your action bar with two abilities:

• Button 1 (Fiery Harpoon) – For destroying buildings
• Button 2 – For killing Dragonflayer Defenders

Step 3: Locate Your Targets

CRITICAL: Your targets are NOT the buildings near you. Look DOWN and ACROSS THE WATER at Wyrmskull Village (the village you quested in earlier). You need to destroy three buildings BY THE WATERFRONT. From left to right, the buildings are: Storage Facility, Dockhouse, Longhouse.

Step 4: Destroy Buildings

1. Click Button 1 (Fiery Harpoon) – Your cursor becomes a green targeting circle
2. Place the CENTER of the green circle on the RED ROOF (specifically the PEAK/APEX) of the building
3. Double LEFT-CLICK to fire

You MUST hit the roofs. Hitting walls or ground WILL NOT give credit.

Step 5: Kill Defenders

After each building is destroyed, 3-5 Dragonflayer Defenders spawn on red dragons and fly toward you. Target them normally (click on them) and use Button 2 to kill them. One shot = one kill.

Kill at least 8 defenders total across all waves to complete that objective.

Step 6: Return the Mechanism

Once all three buildings are destroyed and 8+ defenders killed, return to Lieutenant Icehammer with the mechanism.

Tips

• Group Credit: If multiple players need the quest, group up. Everyone gets credit for the same harpoon session.
• Watch Your Back: Mobs from the building can attack you from behind while you’re on the harpoon. If you start taking damage, either finish quickly or dismount to deal with them.
• The Harpoon Can Be Healed: A group member not using the harpoon can heal the harpoon gun itself if it takes damage.

Story Context

Lieutenant Icehammer gives the order to strike:

“We must strike while the vrykul forces are in disarray! Take the harpoon control mechanism to Nifflevar and locate the northernmost harpoon building on the bluff side of the village.”

“Once there, commandeer one of the vrykul harpoon guns that are stationed on the building’s deck. Use the harpoon gun to rain hell upon Wyrmskull Village! Destroy the longhouse, dockhouse, storage facility and any defenders that the vrykul may send at you!”

“Do this and Daggercap Bay will become a much safer port!”

Upon completion:

“Excellent work, <name>! You took out a good chunk of their dragon riders and really pissed off their leadership.”

“Are you ready to head back to Valgarde and report the good news to Zorek? If so, I’ve got a crazy idea!”

Easter Egg: Spinal Tap Reference

The quest title “It Goes to 11…” references the famous scene from the 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. In the film, guitarist Nigel Tufnel proudly demonstrates amplifiers whose volume knobs go to 11 instead of the standard 10, explaining: “It’s one louder.”
