“Our scouts have spotted iron dwarves in the valley north of here. I overheard King Stormheart sending you to visit Drom and I’m admittedly a bit worried about’m. If you find any iron dwarves when you head down there, put’m down hard and fast for me, eh?
I dun think they know exactly where we are or how to get here just yet, and I’d prefer to keep it that way.”

Lore Context
The Stormforged are iron dwarves created by Loken using the corrupted Forge of Wills in Ulduar. Their name may indicate they are a newer generation of iron dwarves, distinct from older populations like those at Thor Modan in Grizzly Hills.
Fjorlin’s dialogue hints at the growing threat these iron dwarves pose to the Frostborn. The Frostborn are frost dwarves (earthen descendants, like Ironforge dwarves) who have so far avoided direct conflict with the Stormforged, but the iron dwarf presence is expanding across the mountains.
This tension escalates in later quests, such as Fury of the Frostborn King, where a full-scale battle erupts.
Explore the Storm Peaks’ hidden easter eggs, lore mysteries, and connections across Warcraft history in Vikstone’s Storm Peaks Chronicles, along with the complete quest storyline.
Vikstone's War JournalFjorlin caught me before I left for Drom’s cave.

“Our scouts have spotted iron dwarves in the valley north of here. If you find any when you head down there, put’m down hard and fast for me, eh? I dun think they know exactly where we are or how to get here just yet, and I’d prefer to keep it that way.”
The Stormforged Invaders were easy to find. Harder to miss. My claymore made the work quick.
Fjorlin’s face was grim when I reported.
“Those Iron Dwarves seem to be increasing in numbers… we’ve been seeing them all over the mountains. I smell war coming.” He nodded once. “Thank you for dealing with this bunch. A little more time bought.”
