I’ve got a lead on Norgannon’s keystone, which guards access to Ulduar’s archives, but the Titans divided it into two pieces and secreted them away. Thank the Light that someone got my message. Now that I’m safe from the iron dwarves, I need to ask your help with something. I’ve got a lead on Norgannon’s keystone, which guards access to Ulduar’s archives, but the Titans divided it into two pieces and secreted them away.
One of the pieces, the keystone’s shell, is held within the Inventor’s Library on the northern coast, south of Ulduar itself. The first thing you’ll need to do is retrieve the fragments of an access disk from the library’s guardians.

Quest Giver: Brann Bronzebeard — via Brann’s Communicator (accepted at end of Sniffing Out the Perpetrator)
Objective: Gather 6 Inventor’s Disk Fragments from Library Guardians at the Inventor’s Library and assemble The Inventor’s Disk.

Note: This quest grants Explorers’ League reputation, not The Frostborn. The chain shifts factions here since you’re now working directly for Brann.
Walkthrough
Fly to the Inventor’s Library on the Maker’s Terrace. The outdoor patio area is centered around [38, 43], with the library entrance at approximately [37.7, 45.3].
This is directly north of the Grom’arsh Crash Site on the map, south of the Temple of Wisdom. Look for the elevated platform with mechagnome constructs patrolling on mechanostriders.
Kill Library Guardians until you collect 6 Inventor’s Disk Fragments. Drop rates vary, so expect some RNG. The Guardians respawn quickly, so there’s no downtime between kills.
Once you have all 6 fragments, click them in your inventory to assemble The Inventor’s Disk. There’s a brief channeling period (~10 seconds) to combine them. Use Brann’s Communicator to summon Brann, turn in the quest, and accept the follow-up Data Mining.

Lore Context
Brann explains that Norgannon’s keystone guards access to Ulduar’s archives. The Titans divided the keystone into two pieces and hid them. The first piece, the keystone’s shell, is locked inside the Inventor’s Library. The disk you’re assembling is the access key to reach it.
The Inventor’s Library is a titan knowledge repository, but instead of books and scrolls, it stores information in databanks and consoles. The Library Guardians are mechagnomes, the original uncorrupted form of gnomes before the Curse of Flesh transformed them into the fleshy gnomes players know. These particular mechagnomes still faithfully carry out their original programming, guarding the library even though their titan masters departed long ago.
SCRAP-E, the mechagnome quest giver found inside the library, is a reference to Disney/Pixar’s WALL-E (2008), who also works with scrap materials. The movie released the same year as WotLK.
Cross-Expansion: The Inventor’s Library appears again in BfA (Patch 8.1.5) during the Hunter quest Spark of Genius, where Mimiron himself calls it “my library” and uses it as a base for resurrecting the spirit wolf Hati.
Post-Shadowlands, the three Bronzebeard brothers visit the library together during the events of Exploring Azeroth: Northrend, where the Library Guardians allow them to look around but note they lack authorization to access the consoles.

Not a word about Frosthowl Cavern or the tracker I had to go through to reach his device. He was safe, and there was work.

South of Ulduar. I killed Loken in the foothills of that place days ago and have not once looked directly at it since. It does not sit on the mountain the way a fortress sits on a mountain.
The Inventor’s Library is on the coast, and the guardians in it are the same make I have been fighting since the Makers’ Perch. Iron, riveted plate. Six of them carried fragments. Whatever the titans built them to guard, they were still guarding it, and nobody had come to relieve them in eleven thousand years.
The fragments went together in my hands without any working at all. Ironforge could not manage that, and Ironforge is the best we have.
“Wonderful! Now that we have the disk, you must use it to open the Inventor’s vault!”
Norgannon’s archives, and Brann Bronzebeard means to be inside them.
Brann wanted it used on the vault door immediately, because whatever the titans filed away in there was going to take some Data Mining.
