Quest 10 of 17 in the Brann Bronzebeard Chain
Alliance • The Storm Peaks • Level 80 • Frosthold
Locate Drom Frostgrip.
Frostgrip's Hollow opens at 26.8, 66.8, at the foot of the peak where Sirana died. Take lefts through the tunnel until you reach the big room with a ledge, and Drom is at 25.2, 68.5. Stormforged invaders fill the cave on the way. Take Unwelcome Guests from Fjorlin before you set out, since it wants the same enemies in the same tunnel.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
The Frostborn had drifted from the titans because so few remained to keep faith with, but Drom had not, and still spoke to Creteus. Vikstone found him coughing blood in the back of a cave the iron dwarves had already been through.

“I don’t know where this core is hiding, but ye knew that. I said I’d help though, and that I shall. There’s a hermit by the name of Drom Frostgrip who lives in a cave north of here… down in tha valley. We’ve strayed away from the titans a bit ourselves being that there are so few about, but Drom’s loyal to the old ways… he keeps an eye on their most precious places and speaks te the keeper Creteus often.

Yer sure to find him in the back of his cave… tell’m I sent ye and he’ll help ye.”

The cave entrance is located in Bor's Breath, just south of the frozen path. Use the exact coordinates 26.93, 66.94 to avoid confusion, as the rounded coordinates may lead to a different location.

Navigating the Cave:
Upon entering the cave:
Turn left at every fork until you reach a large room.
Look for a small chamber or ledge within the large room—Drom Frostgrip is there.
The layout resembles the Redridge Mountains escort quest cave (for nostalgic players).

Walkthrough

Quest Giver: Yorg Stormheart — Frosthold, Storm Peaks [30.0, 74.0]

Objective: Locate Drom Frostgrip inside Frostgrip’s Hollow.

Walkthrough

  • Fly north from Frosthold down into the valley. The cave entrance to Frostgrip’s Hollow is at approximately [26.8, 66.8], southwest of Valkyrion at the western end of Bor’s Breath glacier.
  • Take lefts through the tunnel until you reach a large room with a ledge. Drom is at [25.2, 68.5], well past the entrance at [26.8, 66.8]. Drom Frostgrip is in the deepest chamber. You’ll find him wounded (he coughs up blood when you speak to him) but alive, having been beaten by iron dwarves who invaded his cave and stole his signet ring.
  • The cave also contains Stormforged invaders, so clear as you go.

Efficiency Tips

  • Do Alongside: Grab Unwelcome Guests from Fjorlin Frostbrow at Frosthold [29.8, 75.7] before heading out. That quest sends you into the same cave to kill the Stormforged invaders and their leader, the Stormforged Monitor. You’ll complete both quests in one trip.
  • Chain Position: Quest 4 of 9 in the Frostborn chain. Leads to The Lonesome Watcher, which sends you to meet the titan watcher Creteus.

Lore Context

Yorg describes Drom as a hermit who is “loyal to the old ways,” keeping watch over titan sites and regularly speaking with the titan watcher Creteus. While most Frostborn have drifted away from their titan-forged origins, Drom maintains that connection. This makes him uniquely useful for tracking down Norgannon’s Core.

Drom’s beaten state when you find him shows that the iron dwarves have been aggressively expanding their reach, even targeting Frostborn hermits in remote caves. The stolen signet ring becomes important in the next quest.

Then, and he did not make much of it: “We’ve strayed away from the titans a bit ourselves being that there are so few about. But Drom’s loyal to the old ways. He keeps an eye on their most precious places and speaks te the keeper Creteus often. Yer sure to find him in the back of his cave… tell’m I sent ye and he’ll help ye.”

They have strayed away. He said it in passing, the way a man mentions a leak he has stopped intending to fix.

Up the mountain from them, the frost dwarves have quietly let it go, on the grounds that there is hardly anybody left to keep faith with.

Frostgrip’s Hollow is at the foot of the peak where I killed Sirana. I went in past the mouth and back through it, and Drom was at the far end with texts stacked around him higher than he sits.

He coughed up blood before speaking.

“Norgannon’s Core, eh? I’ve spent a fair number of days trying to find anything I could about it myself, but it seems to be one of the relics that’s still guarded. With reason I suppose.”

He looked at me for a while before the rest of it.

“If King Stormheart sent you, he surely must see something noble in ye… and I’m not one to refuse my king.”

The iron dwarves who had worked him over on the way in had taken something of his, and getting it back meant going to see The Lonesome Watcher.
