Objective: Use The Inventor’s Disk to retrieve 7 pieces of Hidden Data from the Databanks around the Inventor’s Library. Contact Brann via Brann’s Communicator when done.

Walkthrough
The Databanks are floating orb-like objects scattered around the Inventor’s Library area, roughly centered around [38, 43] to [40, 40] on the Maker’s Terrace. There are more than 8 Databanks in the area, so you can collect all 7 Hidden Data without waiting for respawns.
Right-click The Inventor’s Disk from your inventory while near a Databank. The disk has a generous range of 25-30 yards, which means you can often use it without aggroing the patrolling Library Guardians nearby. There’s a brief channeling delay when retrieving each piece of data.
After collecting 7/7, use Brann’s Communicator to summon Brann. You can do this on the spot; no need to travel anywhere specific. Turn in the quest and accept the follow-up, The Library Console.

Brann discovers that the assembled disk is blank. He deduces that “Mimir,” the Keeper who built this library, must have hidden the data across multiple external Databanks rather than storing it on the disk itself.
“Mimir” is Brann’s name for Mimiron, the brilliant titan Keeper of invention who later serves as a boss in the Ulduar raid. By referring to Mimiron as “Mimir,” Brann uses the Keeper’s original Norse-derived name. The name Mimir comes from Mimir of Norse mythology, a being renowned for wisdom who guarded a well of knowledge beneath Yggdrasil.
Brann’s completion text: “At least we can count on Mimir to be systematic. Can’t say that for the rest of these Keepers from what I’ve been hearing…”
This is a direct reference to the corruption of the other titan Keepers (Thorim, Hodir, Freya, Loken) by Yogg-Saron. Mimiron, despite being under Yogg-Saron’s influence, apparently maintained his systems more reliably than the others, reflecting his nature as the Keeper of invention and order.
The quest also establishes that Brann is simultaneously searching for “the other half of the archive key” while you handle this task. He’s running a parallel investigation as part of a coordinated Explorers’ League operation, not a simple fetch quest.
Retail rewrite: Blizzard later changed “That crafty Mimir” to “Keeper Mimir, the tinker who built this library,” and cut Brann’s closing jab about the other Keepers entirely. The WotLK line preserved here is the only version where he voices suspicion about what’s happening to them.

Six guardians killed for the fragments, and the thing they were guarding was an empty plate.
The databanks stand about the library floor at roughly the height of a man’s chest. Bring the disk near one and the disk does the rest. There is no lever and no keyhole. Something passes between them that a man cannot see or hear, and then it is finished, and the disk in your hand weighs exactly what it weighed before.
I did that seven times and the Library Guardians came at me for every one of them.
“I can’t tell if there’s anything stored there or not! You have to tell me what happened.”
I described the process. His holographic form nodded.
“So it worked? At least we can count on Mimir to be systematic. Can’t say that for the rest of these Keepers from what I’ve been hearing…”
That last part stayed with me.
Seven databanks worth of titan record sat on a disk neither of them could read, and reading it meant finding the machine it was built to talk to, which was waiting somewhere in the stacks as The Library Console.
