Objective: Use the Ley Line Focus Control Talisman to gain information from the Ley Line Focus under Lake Indu’le. Then head east to the Azure Dragonshrine and observe what is occurring there from the western ledge. Return to the Image of Archmage Modera at Stars’ Rest.

Walkthrough

Accept and Read the Quest Text

• You accepted this quest from Mage-Commander Evenstar’s corpse at the bottom of Lake Indu’le. When you looted the body, you found two things: the Ley Line Focus Control Talisman (a focus control device) and a set of water-soaked orders from someone named Sidragos.
• The orders were intended for Goramosh, the mage hunter leader back at Moonrest Gardens, and they instruct him to move all mage hunter forces east to the Azure Dragonshrine.
• The talisman is automatically placed in your inventory when you accept the quest. You do not need to pick it up separately.

Step 1: Use the Talisman on the Underwater Focus (~39, 67)

• The Ley Line Focus is right next to Evenstar’s corpse on the lake bed, at approximately [39, 67]. You should still be underwater from completing Search Indu’le Village.
• Use the Ley Line Focus Control Talisman from your inventory while standing near the focus. You’ll receive a buff revealing what the talisman shows: the energies of the ley line are being redirected to the Azure Dragonshrine, and the magic is being used to empower the blue dragons there in preparation for an attack on Wyrmrest Temple.
• Once the buff appears and the first objective credit triggers, swim to the surface.

Step 2: Observe the Azure Dragonshrine (~53, 66)

• Head east from Lake Indu’le. You’re looking for the Azure Dragonshrine, a massive fissure in the ground pouring arcane energy into the air. It’s hard to miss: look for columns of magical light shooting upward from the earth.
• You need to reach the western ledge of the shrine. The area trigger fires at approximately [53, 66]. If the objective doesn’t trigger immediately, move around the western rim of the shrine until it does.
• You do not need to enter the shrine itself or fight anything here. Just approaching the western overlook is enough to observe the dragonshrine and credit the second objective.

Step 3: Return to Stars’ Rest

• Fly back to the Image of Archmage Modera at Stars’ Rest. If you haven’t discovered the flight path at Moa’ki Harbor to the south, this is a good time to grab it, as it provides a faster return route and will be useful later in Dragonblight.
• Modera’s reaction is dramatic: “WHAT?! [The image before you distorts for a moment as the archmage attempts to regain her composure.] Of course, we should have guessed that this was what they were up to all along. Quickly, there’s no time to waste. Wyrmrest must be warned!”

Tips

• Breath timer on Step 1: If you surfaced for air between Search Indu’le Village and this quest, you’ll need to dive back down to the focus. Plan your air accordingly, or use underwater breathing effects. The talisman use is instant, so you only need a few seconds at the bottom.
• No combat required for Step 2. The Azure Dragonshrine area has hostile blue dragonkin, but the observation point is on the western ledge above the shrine, not inside it. You can ride past or around hostiles without engaging.

Lore Context

This quest is the chain’s “ah-ha” moment. For five quests, you’ve been following the ley line manipulation trail from Moonrest Gardens through three relay points (Glittering Strand, Lothalor Woodlands, Lake Indu’le).

Now you learn where all that stolen arcane power was going: the Azure Dragonshrine, where Malygos’s blue dragonflight is being supercharged for an assault on Wyrmrest Temple, the seat of the Wyrmrest Accord and the closest thing Dragonblight has to neutral ground.

The orders from Sidragos to Goramosh confirm a structured chain of command within the mage hunter operation. Goramosh ran the Moonrest Gardens operation (the corrupted night elf ruins you investigated earlier), and Sidragos was giving him marching orders from further up the chain.

This wasn’t a rogue operation; it was coordinated military strategy by the blue dragonflight.

Modera’s loss of composure is notable. Throughout the chain she’s been calm, analytical, almost clinical about each discovery. Here, her projection literally distorts with shock. The Kirin Tor knew Malygos was redirecting ley lines, but they didn’t expect a direct military strike on Wyrmrest Temple.

This changes the investigation from an academic concern into an urgent military crisis.

From here, the chain pivots from investigation to mobilization, eventually leading to the defense of Wyrmrest Temple itself.

Do Alongside

• If you still need to complete Strengthen the Ancients in Lothalor Woodlands, do it before heading east to the Azure Dragonshrine, as the woodlands are along the way.
• The Azure Dragonshrine area connects to Wyrmrest Accord daily quests later at level 80, including disrupting surge needles. Familiarize yourself with the terrain now.
