This quest counts toward both Quests Completed and I’ve Toured the Fjord achievements, so completionists will want to grab it.
Story Context
Donny sends word to his colleagues about the iron dwarves’ suspicious activities at Ivald’s Ruin:
“I see that you haven’t visited my brothers at the Explorers’ League Outpost south of here. Why don’t you do Donny a favor and deliver this message to Stanwad. He’ll be interested to hear about the activities of the iron dwarves up here.”
Stanwad’s response is characteristically dismissive:
“Yea, this isn’t anything we don’t already know. At least Donny’s still alive.”
The Explorers’ League has clearly been tracking the iron dwarf problem for some time. Stanwad’s relief that Donny survived suggests the dig sites have become increasingly dangerous.

“I see that you haven’t visited my brothers at the Explorers’ League Outpost south of here. Why don’t you do Donny a favor and deliver this message to Stanwad. He’ll be interested to hear about the activities of the iron dwarves up here.”
He pointed south.
“Mount up and start heading that way. You’ll see the outpost right before you get to Baelgun’s.”
Stanwad was waiting at the outpost, still surrounded by his tablets and ciphers. I handed him the letter. He skimmed it, then shrugged.
“Yea, this isn’t anything we don’t already know.” He folded the letter carelessly. “At least Donny’s still alive.”
The Explorers’ League. Always three steps ahead, and never telling anyone what they’d found.
Stanwad knew all about the iron dwarves and had nothing at all under control on the bluff above him, where the dig team had gone wrong and the ground itself was fighting back, which makes Problems on the High Bluff an understatement.
