Travel to Dorian's Outpost and speak with Dorian Drakestalker.

Hemet Nesingwary at Nesingwary Base Camp [27, 59] sends you north to Dorian Drakestalker at [42, 28]. This quest unlocks only after completing all three Mastery finales (including the Soo-rahm quests in the Rhino line). Pure travel, no combat. Grab both Securing the Bait and Sharpening Your Talons from Dorian before heading into the Savage Thicket.

Vikstone's Classic Expedition

Hemet looked at three apex predator trophies and immediately asked about drakes, because the man's appetite for escalation had no ceiling. Dorian Drakestalker was waiting at a camp north of the lake with the resigned patience of someone who'd done all the hard work and knew Hemet would take the credit.

“Well, Vikstone, you’ve certainly proven your mettle as a hunter of all kinds of game animals — rhinos, cats, and crocolisks. For some members of the expedition, these creatures are sufficient to test their hunting skills, but others, like myself, crave larger challenges. Dorian Drakestalker went north, across Bittertide Lake and established a camp there. He’s heard rumors of gigantic primordial drakes.

Just imagine what a quarry they would be! Go check up on Dorian and see if he’s had any luck.”

Prerequisites: Complete ALL three mastery chains: Dreadsaber Mastery: Ready to Pounce, Rhino Mastery: The Kill, and Crocolisk Mastery: The Ambush. Note that the Rhino chain includes the Soo-rahm side quests (An Offering for Soo-rahm and The Bones of Nozronn), which must also be done.
Unlocks: Securing the Bait and Sharpening Your Talons, which begin the primordial drake hunting phase
Achievement: Part of the chain leading to The Snows of Northrend

Walkthrough

Fly or ride north from Nesingwary Base Camp, past Bittertide Lake, to Dorian’s Outpost at [42, 28]. The camp is west of the Savage Thicket and is marked by a few tents and NPCs.
Talk to Dorian Drakestalker to complete the quest and pick up his follow-ups.

Efficiency Tips

This is a pure travel quest with no combat. Grab both Securing the Bait and Sharpening Your Talons from Dorian before heading into the Savage Thicket, as both take place in the same area to the east.
If you can’t find this quest at Hemet, double-check that you’ve completed every step of all three mastery chains. A common sticking point is missing the Soo-rahm quests (located at [26, 70] near the Bones of Nozronn), which are required as part of the Rhino Mastery progression.

Drakes. Naturally.

Found Dorian’s outpost north of the lake. Small camp, practical. Dorian had clearly been waiting.

“So old Hemet didn’t forget about me, after all.” Dorian smiled without warmth. “I suppose he’s going to want to participate in the hunt once we’ve done all the hard work. Don’t worry, there are plenty of drakes to go around. Hemet will get his wish.”

Sholazar would keep testing until something finally won.

Dorian had found the drakes, and the hunt required two things: bait worth eating and claws worth sharpening in Securing the Bait
