Walkthrough

• Head north from Dorian’s Outpost and look for neutral Shattertusk Mammoths. They are level 76-77 beasts scattered throughout the area southwest and east of the Savage Thicket.
• Use the Mammoth Harness on a neutral mammoth to mount it. Avoid Shattertusk Bulls, which are hostile and will not accept the harness. The quest text warns you directly about this.
• Ride the mammoth back to Dorian’s Outpost. It moves slowly, so be patient. If you stray too far from the intended path, the mammoth may reset and you will need to capture another.
• Once back at camp, press 1 on your vehicle action bar near Zootfizzle to deliver the mammoth.

Troubleshooting the Hand-In (Common Issue) This quest is notorious for hand-in difficulties. If pressing 1 near Zootfizzle does nothing, try these solutions in order:

• (1) Move about 40 yards away from the camp and press 1 from there.
• (2) Spam-click the 1 button rapidly instead of pressing once.
• (3) Disable UI-modifying addons, especially damage meters like Recount, which are known to interfere with vehicle quests.
• (4) If nothing works, abandon and try a different mammoth entirely.

Lore Context

Zootfizzle is a gnome engineer who despises cogs, declaring Dorian’s Outpost a “cog-free zone.” He is named after a Blizzard forum poster who moderated the UI & Macros forum. The real Zootfizzle’s persona involved “compulsively destroying cogs,” which the NPC faithfully mirrors.

The completion text reads: “Perfect! Now, all we need to do is get Hemet a stepladder…” A joke about Hemet Nesingwary being a dwarf who needs help mounting a full-sized mammoth.

The mammoth captured here will be used in the next quest, Post-partum Aggression, where you and Hemet ride it into battle against Broodmother Slivina.

Harnessing a wild Shattertusk here is one of the few times you interact with mammoths as untamed creatures rather than prestigious mounts.
