Quick Facts
Walkthrough
After you deliver the cobra fangs, Soo-rahm prepares the incense and gives you surprisingly mystical instructions: “Light it and place it near Nozronn’s head and you will hear his voice.”
When you point out that you haven’t even told him your question, he replies: “True, we not know, but mighty Nozronn does. Do not doubt. Nozronn will answer your heart’s question.”
Using the incense: The Bones of Nozronn are directly south of Soo-rahm’s lean-to, just a few steps away. Look for the massive skeleton with glowing eyes. The Offering Bowl is in front of Nozronn’s skull at [26, 72]. Stand next to the bowl and use Soo-rahm’s Incense from your bags.
Bag tip: The incense shares an icon with Vision Dust and Oshu’gun Crystal Powder Sample. If you’re an Enchanter, don’t accidentally use the wrong item. Look for “Soo-rahm’s Incense” specifically.
The spirit event: After using the incense, the Voice of Nozronn speaks. Wait for the full dialogue to complete before leaving. The quest auto-completes once the spirit finishes talking. The dialogue reveals:
After the event completes, fly back to Hemet at Nesingwary Base Camp to turn in. This unlocks Rhino Mastery: The Kill, the actual Farunn fight.
Lore Context
Nozronn as a possible Wild God: Nozronn’s enormous size, the fact that gorlocs worship him, and his ability to communicate from beyond death all suggest he may be a rhino Wild God. This is not confirmed, but it parallels the Drakkari rhino loa Akali in Zul’Drak. Both are ancient, revered rhinos connected to the spiritual practices of their respective cultures.
The key difference: the Drakkari sacrificed Akali to steal his power (his High Prophet Gal’darah became the final boss of Gundrak), while the gorlocs continue to honor Nozronn and seek his wisdom. Two cultures, two very different relationships with their rhino spirits.
Nozronn’s warning: The spirit’s parting message, “tell him to leave this land in peace. He does not belong here,” is a direct rebuke of the Nesingwary expedition’s presence in this titan-engineered ecosystem. It carries the weight of an ancient being speaking to preserve a sacred balance.
And Hemet’s response? “No dead rhino tells Hemet Nesingwary where and what he can hunt. We’ll show that heap o’ bones.” This is peak Nesingwary: the spirit of an ancient, possibly divine rhino delivers a solemn warning about respecting the land, and Hemet takes it as a personal challenge.
The game never resolves this tension explicitly, but it’s clearly on the side of “maybe stop trophy-hunting in a titan preserve.”
The skeleton is a rhino, not a dinosaur. Despite its massive size, the Bones of Nozronn are the remains of an ancient rhino. This fits Sholazar’s ecology as a titan testing ground, where creatures were engineered to grow to extraordinary proportions. The skeleton resembles a dinosaur, which speaks to Nozronn’s sheer scale, but all lore sources identify him as a rhino.

Vikstone's War JournalSoo-rahm handed me incense made from the cobra fangs. “Light it and place it near Nozronn’s head and you will hear his voice.”

Started to explain the question, but he cut me off. “True, we not know, but mighty Nozronn does. Do not doubt. Nozronn will answer your heart’s question. Go. Nozronn not wait long.”
Walked to the great skull. Whatever Nozronn had been in life, his bones dwarfed any rhino I’d seen. I lit the incense in the offering bowl. Smoke rose, and the jungle went silent.
Then a voice, deep as earth shifting:
“So the oracle has decided to aid you, outlander. Very well, I will offer you what I know. Your companion seeks the shardhorn patriarch Farunn, who holds himself aloof from his brothers. Farunn walks the lands north of what your people call the Bittertide Falls. You will find him alone, but you will see he requires no defenders.”
A pause. The voice colder now.
“Return to your companion. Tell him to go forth and claim his prize in Farunn. Once he has done so, tell him to leave this land in peace. He does not belong here.”
The smoke faded and the jungle returned. I stood there, processing what I’d heard. A dead rhino’s spirit, speaking of hunts and territory. Sholazar had its own rules.
Hemet listened. Then laughed.
“Way to go, lad. No dead rhino tells Hemet Nesingwary where and what he can hunt. We’ll show that heap o’ bones.”
Hemet heard a god speak and found a challenge.
Hemet had ignored every word except the directions. The patriarch Farunn was waiting north of Bittertide Falls in Rhino Mastery: The Kill
