Colvin Norrington at Dorian's Outpost (42, 28) needs reagents for Archmage Pentarus in Dalaran. Fly northeast into the Bonefields around 56, 27 to 59, 28 and kill Goretalon Rocs (level 75–76) for their talons. The drop rate is reliable and the area is dense with rocs, so this finishes fast. Pair with My Pet Roc from Zootfizzle to grab Roc Eggs on the ground in the same area.

“That Archmage Pentarus, back in Dalaran, will be expecting us to return with all kinds of reagents and talismans. It seems the locals are fond of animal parts. Twisted claws from the goretalon rocs are among their favorite. It’s not my place to say whether the rumors are true or not, but I’ve a feeling there’s something here. The rocs live in the Bonefields off to the northeast, where they feed on the corpses of old mammoths.

Finding Rocs:
Rocs are scattered around The Bone Fields, mainly at 56, 27 and nearby areas.
They tend to gather around dead Shattertusk Mammoths, so check for these spots to find clusters of Rocs.
Killing and Looting:
Simply kill Rocs to collect Roc Plumages. All Rocs in the area can drop the item.
Respawn rates are decent, so if you're competing with others, wait for respawns or move to a less crowded spot. — **Finding Rocs:** Rocs are scattered around The Bone Fields, mainly at 56, 27 and nearby areas. Walkthrough

Fly northeast from Dorian’s Outpost into the Bonefields, an area strewn with massive bones and populated by Goretalon Rocs (level 75-76). The quest text specifically notes the rocs feed on the corpses of old mammoths, so look for clusters near large bone piles.
Kill Goretalon Rocs and loot Twisted Roc Talons. The drop rate is reliable, and there are plenty of rocs in the area, so this completes quickly.
Rocs use a Swoop ability that deals increased weapon damage, but they are non-elite and go down fast.

Efficiency Tips

Always pair with My Pet Roc from Zootfizzle. While killing rocs for talons, grab the sparkling Roc Eggs scattered on the ground nearby.
Also check if you have Burning to Help, another Colvin Norrington quest that sends you to Bittertide Lake to the southwest. All three side quests can be knocked out in a single loop.

Lore Context

Colvin Norrington is collecting reagents for Archmage Pentarus, the Kirin Tor mage back in Dalaran who originally sent players to find Hemet Nesingwary (via the quest Where in the World is Hemet Nesingwary?).

Already heading that way for Zootfizzle’s eggs, might as well collect talons while I was at it.

The rocs didn’t surrender their claws willingly. Had to kill them first, which they objected to strenuously. Fast, aggressive, and those beaks could punch through plate. But I’d fought drakes now, and proto-dragons. Rocs were simpler. No fire.

Returned to camp with scratches on my armor and reagents for Dalaran.

Colvin examined them. “These will more than suffice. The gorlocs have a saying that the more gnarled the talon, the more power it holds. I’m sure the archmage will get his money’s worth from this expedition.”

Mages and their reagents. Warriors bleed. Mages collect.

Colvin had the talons packed for Dalaran, but his list for Archmage Pentarus had one more entry, and this one pointed toward Bittertide Lake in Burning to Help.
