“The Horde’s forces are poised to break through our lines and complete their conquest of Venture Bay if we do not act. The Horde’s forces in the port are commanded by Captain Zorna, near the ship on the far side of the bay.
If you can defeat her, the Horde’s offensive will falter and we can seize the chance to capture the port. Beware, Vikstone, for Zorna is a fierce fighter. It may take several people to defeat her, or if you have access to a repaired shredder, you might try using it to your advantage.”

Walkthrough
Baron Freeman is found on the island east of Venture Bay, in front of the giant shredder. He is near the same cluster of Alliance quest givers (Sergeant Downey, Lieutenant Stuart, Barblefink) on the Alliance side of the bay.
Captain Zorna is located at [13.4, 80.3], in a tent on the dock near the Horde ship. She is NOT on the ship itself. Many players waste time clearing the ship looking for her when she’s actually on a stretch of dock beside it. Head west from the Alliance camp, past the buildings, to the far side of the docks where the Horde ship is berthed. The tent is on the dock near the ship’s gangplank.
Kill Captain Zorna and return to Baron Freeman.
Combat Details
Despite the “Suggested Players: 3” tag, Captain Zorna is widely soloable by most classes at level 73-74, and trivially easy at 75+. She has approximately 30,846 HP.
Class-Specific Tips
Shredder Strategy (PATCHED)
The quest text itself suggests using a repaired shredder. Originally, players could take a shredder from the Shredder Repair daily at Blue Sky Logging Grounds, drive it to Venture Bay, and use the Self-Destruct ability on top of Captain Zorna for an instant kill. This was a popular one-shot strategy.
However, as of Patch 3.3, the shredder disappears when you leave the Blue Sky Logging Grounds area. This strategy no longer works in WotLK Classic. The quest text’s shredder suggestion now refers only to the Key to Refurbished Shredder reward from Shredder Repair, which summons a combat shredder you can use at Venture Bay, though it is not nearly as powerful as the Self-Destruct trick was.
Do Alongside
Baron Freeman is at the same Alliance camp as the other Venture Bay daily quest givers. Grab all Venture Bay dailies and do them in one sweep:
Route: Pick up all four quests at the Alliance camp. Head west through the docks, smoking out Stragglers and killing Horde units as you go. Grab Element 115 from the middle ship. Continue to Captain Zorna’s tent at the far end. Kill her. Return to camp and turn in everything.
Lore Context
The quest text frames Captain Zorna as the commander of all Horde forces in Venture Bay’s port area. Baron Freeman tells you that without her, the Horde will become “weak and disorganized,” giving the Alliance a chance to push forward.
This positions the daily quest as a repeating decapitation strike that resets each day, with the Horde replacing their commander overnight, only for the Alliance to cut her down again.
The Horde mirror quest, Crush Captain Brightwater!, tells the same story in reverse. General Khazgar sends Horde players to kill the Alliance captain on the opposing ship. Both factions are locked in a Groundhog Day cycle of assassinating each other’s leaders, neither able to gain lasting control of the bay.
Captain Zorna is an orc, making her part of the Warsong Offensive forces operating in Grizzly Hills.
The Warsong connection ties the Venture Bay conflict to Garrosh Hellscream’s aggressive military campaign across Northrend, which becomes a major plotline in later expansions as Garrosh’s warmongering escalates toward his eventual role as the final boss of Mists of Pandaria.

He warned me she was a fierce fighter. Suggested bringing allies, or using a repaired shredder.
I chose the shredder.
The machine’s controls felt crude but responsive as I crossed the contested ground toward the Horde position. Zorna stood among her troops, weapon already drawn, watching the shredder approach without giving ground.
She fought hard, rallying her soldiers even as the shredder’s weapons tore through them. The machine shuddered with each hit she landed, but it held.
When Zorna finally fell, the Horde line wavered.
Freeman nodded at my report. “Without their leader, the Horde is weak and disorganized. I will order our men forward.”
Zorna falls, and Venture Bay’s daily war resets with the dawn. But the stone giants above Thor Modan have been fighting their own war far longer, and finding their leader begins with Find Kurun!
