Walkthrough

Pipthwack is a gnome engineer at the Alliance camp on the eastern side of Blue Sky Logging Grounds, standing next to a broken shredder he’s trying to repair. He needs salvaged parts to get it operational.

Head southeast downhill to the central island between the two rivers. The parts are scattered on the ground throughout the battlefield, concentrated around the sawmill area. They are ground-spawn objects you right-click to pick up. Collect all 9 pieces (4 cogs, 3 sprockets, 2 springs) and return to Pipthwack.

Efficiency Tips

• Notched Sprockets are the hardest to find. They are dark gray gears sitting on dark brown ground, often near the edges of the logging area close to trees. Cogs and springs tend to be more visible.
• Start on the northeastern side of the red-roofed sawmill and work your way southwest. Parts spawn on any land between the two rivers.
• The parts share the same ground space as the combat zone for Kick ‘Em While They’re Down and the wounded soldiers for Life or Death. You’ll naturally run across parts while doing the other quests. Grab them as you go rather than searching for them specifically.
• Respawn rates are reasonable for the parts, but during busy times other players (including Horde doing Making Repairs) are competing for the same spawns.

Do Alongside

This is the third of four Blue Sky Logging Grounds dailies that all overlap on the same island. Grab all four before heading down:

• Kick ‘Em While They’re Down (from Sergeant Hartsman) — Kill 15 Horde units.
• Life or Death (from Rheanna) — Bandage 10 Wounded Westfall Infantry.
• Shredder Repair (from Synipus) — Drive broken-down shredders back to camp.

Lore Context

Pipthwack’s quest text is a fun jab at the gnome vs. goblin engineering rivalry. He calls the shredder’s goblin engineering “a mess” and says it’s “a wonder it ever worked to begin with.”

He’s essentially a gnomish engineer doing field repairs on goblin-built hardware and making sure you know he thinks it’s beneath him. The completion text has him admit the parts will “do the trick,” grudgingly acknowledging that even shoddy goblin components can be made serviceable with gnomish expertise.

The three specific part types (cogs, sprockets, springs) are all internal components of the Venture Company shredders that litter the logging grounds. The Alliance is literally scavenging the Venture Company’s abandoned technology to build their own war machines, tying into the broader theme of both factions picking over goblin scraps throughout Grizzly Hills.
