High Commander Halford Wyrmbane commands the 7th Legion at Wintergarde Keep, the Alliance’s forward position on Dragonblight’s eastern edge. The 7th Legion. Veterans who have never broken. If cultists have infiltrated their ranks, the entire front could collapse from within.
Palena Silvercloud read the missive. She was already moving toward the paddock. “You’ll take my fastest hippogryph. This reaches Wyrmbane tonight.”
“Go. Now. Fly.”
Her mounts stamped and shifted in their paddock.
They chose this. Men and women who looked at the Lich King’s work and agreed to sin, who traded their souls for power, or immortality, or whatever lie he whispered to them.
Namarie never chose. Lunara never chose.
The hippogryph launched and Stars’ Rest fell away beneath me. Wintergarde waited to the east, and the list waited in my pack, and somewhere below, traitors walked among soldiers who trusted them.
The hippogryph went east toward a keep rising out of the snow and a necropolis hanging over it, where High Commander Halford Wyrmbane was waiting for both.
