Walkthrough
Walk from the gryphon station back to Wyrmbane in the main building at Wintergarde Keep [78, 48]. He’s slightly northeast of where Urik stands. Speak to him and select your gear reward. Done.
Wyrmbane salutes you and confirms the rescued villagers are already back at work rebuilding the Keep. He hints at the broader war: “Before long, reinforcements will be ready to join the fight with Lord Fordragon at the Wrathgate.”
But he catches himself and reminds you there’s still much to do at Wintergarde before anyone heads to the Wrathgate.

This small handoff marks the moment Wintergarde transitions from crisis to counteroffensive. Your gryphon rescues didn’t just save lives; they provided the workforce to rebuild and fortify the Keep.
Wyrmbane’s dialogue makes clear that the strategic goal is to stabilize Wintergarde so the 7th Legion can eventually send reinforcements to Bolvar Fordragon at the Wrathgate.
Everything you do from this point forward at Wintergarde is in service of that objective, even though you won’t reach the Wrathgate itself until much later in the Dragonblight questline.

Hours ago, they were running from ghouls in the Carrion Fields. Now they hammered and lifted and rebuilt.
Wyrmbane saluted when I delivered the report.
“Outstanding, soldier. We’ll have this keep fortified in no time. Before long, reinforcements will be ready to join Lord Fordragon at the Wrathgate.”
He caught himself. “Much left to do first, of course.”
Above us, Naxxramas still hung in the sky. The siege was far from broken. But the keep stirred with new life.
I thought of the vrykul and their Protocol of Ascension, how they destroyed their own children rather than let them live diminished. We chose differently. Every soul pulled from those ruins was proof of that.
Men were still pinned in the Carrion Fields and this time the Rescue from Town Square would be done on foot.
