Go in there and see if you can find out anything.”

Lore Context
This unassuming quest is a turning point. What started as “rescue Gretchen’s brother from a mine” becomes a 21-quest journey through Hyldnir society, the Hyldsmeet, and the tragic history of Thorim and Loken. Lok’lira is the thread that pulls the entire chain forward: she offers to help you free Zeev if you help her escape the mine, and from there, the scope of the story expands dramatically.
Pay attention to Lok’lira as the chain progresses. Her name, her motives, and her knowledge of the Keepers are worth thinking about.
Explore the Storm Peaks’ hidden easter eggs, lore mysteries, and connections across Warcraft history in Vikstone’s Storm Peaks Chronicles, along with the complete quest storyline.

Vikstone's War Journal“All of our boys are back… thanks to you!” Gretchen’s relief flickered. “Well… all but one. My brother Zeev is still up there according to the others. Apparently they have some sort of mine where they make their prisoners work. Go in there and see if you can find out anything.”

The Forlorn Mine opened in the mountainside north of Sifreldar Village. Inside, the tunnels wound downward into cold earth. Pickaxes rang against stone somewhere deeper, the rhythm steady and joyless. Slave labor. The Hyldnir weren’t just collecting men for sport.
I found her in the shadows where the tunnel widened. A vrykul woman, but different from the Hyldnir above. Older. Worn. Something behind her eyes that made my hand drift toward my weapon before I understood why.
She noticed.
“You’re definitely not with the Hyldnir… so what are you here for?” A pause, then understanding crossed her features. “Ah… you must be looking for the new prisoner.”
Lok’lira the Crone, she called herself. An illusionist. A prisoner like the others, she claimed.
Maybe.
There was something about the way she watched me. Patient. Calculating. Like she’d been waiting for someone exactly like me to walk through that entrance.
I’ve learned to trust that particular feeling. Usually means trouble I haven’t identified yet.
