“Whether you’ve noticed or not, by defeating your first Hyldnir in hand-to-hand combat, you’ve entered the Hyldsmeet — the great competition of Hyldnir against Hyldnir to determine who will rule by Thorim’s side. The Hyldsmeet is the reason why I was imprisoned, for I sought to partake in the competition but was far too old and frail to be a match for the Hyldnir.
If you’re willing to listen, I’ve a proposal for you.”

Lore Context
This is where the chain reveals its true scope. What started as a goblin rescue mission is now about reaching Thorim, a titan-forged Keeper who has been in a centuries-long depression atop the Temple of Storms.
Lok’lira lays out the stakes plainly: she wants Thorim to “break out of his stupor and rally all his allies to retake Ulduar. The world will be torn asunder if he fails to accomplish this!”
Lok’lira explains that the Hyldsmeet is the Hyldnir’s sacred competition to determine who will rule at Thorim’s side. By defeating Agnetta in the previous quest, you’ve already entered whether you realized it or not. Lok’lira proposes you keep competing and win the whole thing, which would bring you face to face with Thorim himself.
Lok’lira also reveals her own motive for being imprisoned: she tried to enter the Hyldsmeet herself but was “far too old and frail to be a match for the Hyldnir.” This explanation seems perfectly reasonable for a vrykul elder.
In hindsight, knowing that Lok’lira is actually Loken in disguise, the line reads very differently. Loken needed a proxy to compete since he couldn’t enter the Hyldsmeet himself, and the player was the perfect pawn.
Your character can express skepticism during the dialogue, asking why they should care if the Hyldnir and frost giants kill each other. Lok’lira’s response redirects focus to the bigger picture: Thorim and Ulduar, not the local vrykul politics.

Vikstone's War Journal“Whether you’ve noticed or not, by defeating your first Hyldnir in hand-to-hand combat, you’ve entered the Hyldsmeet.” Lok’lira’s voice carried quiet amusement. “The great competition of Hyldnir against Hyldnir to determine who will rule by Thorim’s side.”
I hadn’t noticed. My concern had been a terrified goblin, not ancient vrykul traditions.

“The Hyldsmeet is the reason why I was imprisoned,” she continued. “I sought to partake in the competition but was far too old and frail to be a match for the Hyldnir.” Her eyes held no self-pity. Just fact. “If you’re willing to listen, I’ve a proposal for you.”
I listened.
“You see, Thorim is not like these harpies. He’s a worthy being of near godlike stature. He served the titans as a guardian of Ulduar and the Terrace of the Makers. That’s one reason why to this day, this land is torn apart by the war between the Hyldnir and the Sons of Hodir… and why Thorim has exiled himself to the Temple of Storms.”
Titan guardians. Ulduar. Names I’d heard whispered since arriving in Northrend.
“You want me to take part in the Hyldsmeet to end the war?”
“What do I care if these she-wolves and the frost giants kill each other every day?” Lok’lira’s dismissal was sharp. “No, no… I want Thorim to break out of his stupor and rally all his allies to retake Ulduar. The world will be torn asunder if he fails to accomplish this.”
The scope of what she was asking settled over me like weight.
“Very well. I’ll take part in this competition.”
Her smile returned. “It’s settled then. You will compete in the Hyldsmeet and with my help you’ll restore great Thorim to his rightful place.”
I’d come here to rescue one goblin. Now I was competing for the attention of a god.
