Welcome to Sholazar Basin

Both Factions • Sholazar Basin • Level 76 • Nesingwary Base Camp
Follow the path northwest to Nesingwary Base Camp and speak with Hemet Nesingwary.
Monte Muzzleshot at [39.7, 58.6] sends you northwest to Hemet Nesingwary at [27.1, 58.6]. Turning in unlocks several quests at camp. Priority: Complete Need an Engine, Take an Engine and Have a Part, Give a Part from Weslex Quickwrench first to unlock the camp's flight path. There's no flight master NPC, you interact with the plane directly.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
Vikstone walked into Nesingwary's camp and found a dwarf who'd hunted across two continents. Hemet asked if he was a druid spy, decided he wasn't, and offered a seat by the fire like the Venture Company and the entire jungle could wait until after breakfast.

“So, where did you come from? I don’t suppose that fool of an archmage sent you, too? You’re lucky to be in one piece, laddie! They nearly blew you up! The jungle here’s a darned dangerous place, ‘specially with the Venture Company about. Git you! Go see the boss… he’ll sort you out. The camp’s at the end of that path to the northwest.

Now, git!”

-Monte Muzzleshot

Walkthrough

Quest Giver: Monte Muzzleshot — Wildgrowth Mangal, Sholazar Basin [39.7, 58.6]

Turn In: Hemet Nesingwary — Nesingwary Base Camp, Sholazar Basin [27.1, 58.6]

Objective: Follow the path northwest to Nesingwary Base Camp and speak with Hemet Nesingwary.

Quick Facts

Walkthrough

  • After speaking with Monte Muzzleshot (still hanging from his tree), follow the path northwest toward the river.
  • Hemet Nesingwary is at the camp at [27.1, 58.6]. Speak with him to complete the quest.
  • He’ll welcome you to join the hunt once the Venture Company situation is dealt with.

Efficiency Tips

  • Grab everything at camp: Turning this in unlocks several quests at once. Pick up It Could Be Anywhere!, Need an Engine, Take an Engine, and Venture Co. Misadventure before heading out.
  • Flight path priority: There is no flight master at the camp initially. To unlock the Nesingwary Base Camp flight path, complete Weslex Quickwrench‘s two-part quest chain (Need an Engine, Take an Engine → Have a Part, Give a Part). This is quick and easy, and should be a top priority.
  • Unique flight point: Once unlocked, the Nesingwary flight point [25.3, 58.4] works differently from most. There is no flight master NPC; you interact directly with the plane to open the flight map.
  • Second flight path: A standard flight path exists at Lakeside Landing [50.2, 61.4] in River’s Heart, unlocked later in the zone.
  • Golden Engagement Ring: The “It Could Be Anywhere!” quest drop is a zone-wide random drop from most mobs. Don’t hunt for it specifically; it’ll drop naturally while doing other quests.

Easter Egg

  • The quest name is a nod to Guns N’ Roses’ Welcome to the Jungle, fitting given that Sholazar Basin is a tropical jungle in the middle of frozen Northrend. Wowhead commenters predictably couldn’t resist quoting the lyrics.

Veteran Players Take Note

Despite having possibly helped Nesingwary across Stranglethorn Vale and Nagrand, Hemet treats you like a complete stranger. His completion text asks if you’re “one of those druid lackeys” sent to stop him. A running source of amusement for returning players who handed him hundreds of animal parts across two continents.

Warrior IconVikstone's War Journal

Monte Muzzleshot swayed above me, parachute cords tangled hopelessly in the vines. The dwarf’s eyes narrowed as he took in my appearance.

“Where’d you come from? I don’t suppose that fool of an archmage sent you too?” He didn’t wait for an answer. “You’re lucky to be in one piece, laddie! They nearly blew you up! The jungle here’s a darned dangerous place, ‘specially with the Venture Company about.”

He gestured toward a path cutting through the foliage to the northwest.

“Git you! Go see the boss. He’ll sort you out. The camp’s at the end of that path.” A distant roar echoed through the trees. Monte’s voice dropped. “Now, git!”

The path unfolded through vegetation. Birds darted overhead in hues that belonged in Stranglethorn, not a continent of ice.

The camp materialized through breaks in the canopy. Tents, supply crates. The smell of gunpowder and tanning hides. And at its center, a figure whose legend preceded him across two continents.

Hemet Nesingwary looked up from his rifle with a grin.

“Hah! It’s not often you run into a complete stranger in the middle of the jungle.” He patted his gun. “You one of those druid lackeys sent to stop me and my evil ways? Yeah, good luck with that one!”

The laugh that followed was genuine and untroubled.

“Didn’t think so! You’re more than welcome to join us in the hunt, soon as we’ve dealt with those Venture Company dogs. There’ll be plenty to go around.”

I’d hunted beside Nesingwary’s people in Stranglethorn and Nagrand. Good memories, from before Northrend, from before everything.

Hemet had work lined up, but the jungle had its own plans. A golden ring dropped from somewhere unexpected in It Could Be Anywhere!
