Weslex Quickwrench at Nesingwary Base Camp [25.5, 58.4] needs 7 Venture Co. Spare Parts from Swindlegrin's Dig [33, 47]. They're ground objects near equipment. Stack with Venture Co. Misadventure (15 kills in the same area) and grab the Engineering a Disaster escort from Engineer Helice at the dig. Reward: Completing this repairs the Spirit of Gnomeregan, unlocking the camp's flight path and automatically teaching the River's Heart path.

Vikstone's Classic Expedition

Vikstone raided a Venture Company dig site for spare parts and carried them back to a gnome who turned mining equipment into airplane components. By nightfall the Spirit of Gnomeregan was ugly, loud, and flying, which was three for three on what the camp needed.

“Great, now that we’ve got an engine, we’re going to need an assortment of other parts to get her back in flying condition. Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. A good mechanic can hold his creations together with anything, but we’re better off if it doesn’t come to that. Anyway, those Venture Company dullards have plenty of spare parts for their mining equipment all over Swindlegrin’s Dig on the far side of that yellow crystal pillar to the northeast.

Scoop up a few and bring them back here.”

Walkthrough

Head northeast from Nesingwary Base Camp past The Suntouched Pillar to Swindlegrin’s Dig, centered around [33, 47].
The Venture Co. Spare Parts are ground objects scattered throughout the dig site, found near equipment and machinery. They can blend into the environment, so keep your eyes on the ground.
Collect 7 and return to Weslex at camp.

Efficiency Tips

Stack these quests for one trip. Before heading to the Dig, make sure you also have Venture Co. Misadventure (from Debaar), which requires killing 15 Venture Co. mobs in the same area. You’ll be killing them anyway to reach the spare parts.
Grab the escort quest. Engineer Helice stands in the middle of the dig site around [35, 47]. She offers Engineering a Disaster, an escort quest you can knock out during the same trip. If she’s not there, another player is currently escorting her; she’ll respawn shortly.
Flight path unlocks on turn-in. When you complete this quest, Weslex repairs his flying machine, The Spirit of Gnomeregan, and it becomes the camp’s flight master. You also automatically learn the River’s Heart/Lakeside Landing flight path as a bonus. Pick up both paths from the flight map immediately.
New quests open up. Completing this chain (along with the Venture Co. line) unlocks additional content at camp, including Kick, What Kick?, the Mastery hunting chains, and Aerial Surveillance.

Lore Context

Weslex’s flying machine, The Spirit of Gnomeregan, was damaged when Nesingwary’s ship ran aground entering Sholazar Basin through the Seabreach Flow. The expedition crashed thinking the narrow inlet was a navigable river, which tracks with Nesingwary’s history of rough arrivals (his ship also crashed in Nagrand during TBC).

The Venture Trading Company has set up mining operations at Swindlegrin’s Dig, harvesting resources from the titan-protected basin. Their presence is a recurring thorn across multiple zones and expansions, with the company exploiting natural resources wherever profit can be found.

Easter Egg

The Spirit of Gnomeregan is a reference to The Spirit of St. Louis, the famous plane flown by Charles Lindbergh on the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight from New York to Paris in 1927. The naming convention, “The Spirit of [Home City],” directly mirrors Lindbergh’s aircraft, with Gnomeregan being the overrun gnomish capital city.

He pointed northeast, toward the massive yellow crystal pillar dominating the horizon.

“Those Venture Company dullards have plenty of spare parts for their mining equipment all over Swindlegrin’s Dig. On the far side of that pillar. Scoop up a few and bring them back here.”

Swindlegrin’s Dig sprawled beneath the Suntouched Pillar on the jungle floor. Venture Company shredders stripped crystal from the earth while ruffians and excavators swarmed the platforms. The spare parts lay scattered among their equipment, clearly labeled, poorly guarded.

I took what we needed. The Company workers who objected stopped objecting.

“With a little work, these should suffice.” Weslex’s fell slightly. “My poor flying machine might end up looking more like a Venture Company shredder, though. Poor girl will have to wait until we get back to Dalaran to be restored to her rightful form.”

By nightfall, the Spirit of Gnomeregan hummed to life. The camp had a flight path now.

The Spirit of Gnomeregan was airborne, and Weslex had one more use for it before anyone else got a ride in Aerial Surveillance
