Lore Context
Drakuru is creating an alchemical scrying potion so he can guide you remotely from his cage. The elixir allows him to project his image at specific brazier locations scattered across Grizzly Hills, which is how you’ll receive instructions for the rest of his chain.
This “remote communication” mechanic is itself a red flag in hindsight: a caged prisoner who just happens to have alchemical knowledge, knows exactly where ancient artifacts are hidden, and can project himself across the zone?
Drakuru is far more connected than a simple prisoner should be.

Vikstone's War JournalDrakuru needed an elixir before we could proceed. Something to maintain contact after he was inevitably moved or killed.

“I need a vial from the pretty little troll over there,” he said, nodding toward the reagent vendor. “Some waterweed from the lake just north of here. And a few haze leaves found around the camp. Hurry now, mon, before dey be haulin’ me away.”
The ingredients were easy enough to find. A purchased vial, waterweed from the shallows. Haze leaves from the undergrowth near camp.
Drakuru took them without thanks and combined them. The liquid that resulted was murky, faintly luminescent.
“This should do it, mon. Now it be time to get to work.”
Bound by blood, connected by alchemy. Whatever Drakuru had planned, I was committed now.
Drakuru’s elixir glows faintly in its vial, and the first brazier is waiting somewhere in the troll ruins. Whatever he wants Vikstone to read, it starts with Subject to Interpretation.
