My Heart is in Your Hands

Objective: Collect 5 Desperate Mojo from Drakkari trolls at Drak’atal Passage, then use Drakuru’s Elixir at the brazier to summon and turn in to the Image of Drakuru.

Walkthrough

This quest is widely considered the most frustrating in the Drakuru chain due to an unreliable drop rate and dangerous mob density. Use the Zim’bo shortcut (below) to skip the worst of it.

Step 1: Travel to Drak’atal Passage

• Head northeast from Blue Sky Logging Grounds to Drak’atal Passage [45, 28], the mountain pass connecting Grizzly Hills to Zul’Drak. The passage runs between Ursoc’s Den and Blue Sky Logging Grounds, just north of Heartwood Trading Post.
• You’ll see ruined Drakkari stone steps leading uphill with trolls defending the approach.

Step 2: Collect 5 Desperate Mojo

• Kill Drakkari Defenders (level 74, use Cleave) and Injured Drakkari Refugees throughout the passage area.
• Drop rate warning: The Desperate Mojo drop rate is notoriously inconsistent. Reports range from 5 in 6 kills to 1 in 10. Expect anywhere from 10 to 30+ kills. Drakuru’s quest text only mentions “defenders,” but Refugees drop the mojo as well.

Combat Warnings

• Large patrol packs: The passage has roaming groups of 7-8 trolls. These patrols path through areas where you’re fighting, causing chain pulls. Pull carefully and keep your back to a wall when possible.
• Cleave: Drakkari Defenders use Cleave (110% weapon damage to target + nearest ally). Melee classes with pets should position carefully.
• Density: Individual mobs are manageable at level, but accidental multi-pulls are the real danger.

Step 3: Use the Elixir at the Brazier

• Drakuru’s Brazier is at the bottom of the large stone stairs [44.9, 28.4], in a ruined wall northeast of the entrance to the steps.
• Right-click Drakuru’s Elixir in your inventory while standing near the brazier.
• CRITICAL: The elixir consumes ALL Desperate Mojo in your bags, not just 5. If you farmed extras, you’ll lose them all. In groups, make sure each player has exactly 5 before anyone uses the elixir.

Step 4: Turn In

• The Image of Drakuru appears at the brazier. Speak with him to turn in the quest and hand over the Heart of the Ancients.
• Known interaction bug: The Image sometimes spawns slightly too high on the platform to click normally. If you can’t interact, jump and right-click him at the peak of your jump. You may need a /target macro to select him.
• Accept Voices From the Dust from the Image before he despawns.

Zim’bo Shortcut (Recommended) The Zim’bo workaround lets you skip farming Desperate Mojo entirely:

1. Return to Zeb’Halak [14.5, 37.7] and kill Warlord Zim’bo for Zim’bo’s Mojo (100% drop, respawns quickly).
2. Use the elixir at the Zeb’Halak brazier. Drakuru appears there but without a turn-in marker.
3. You receive the “Envisioning Drakuru” buff (5 minutes). Immediately ride to Drak’atal Passage.
4. Drakuru will also be visible at the Drak’atal brazier, this time with the “?” marker. Turn in normally.

This trades a potentially 30-minute mojo grind for one quick kill and a short ride. Highly recommended, especially for classes that struggle with the patrol density.

Troubleshooting

• QuestHelper bug: The addon may direct you to Zeb’Halak instead of Drak’atal Passage. The correct brazier for this quest is at Drak’atal [44.9, 28.4].
• Lost elixir: Return to Drakuru at Granite Springs [15, 48] for a replacement.
• Image won’t interact/no “?” marker: You may have summoned at the wrong brazier (Zeb’Halak or Drak’Zin instead of Drak’atal). Use the Zim’bo workaround described above.
• Bugged after abandoning: If you dropped and re-accepted the quest and it’s stuck, visit Drakuru at Granite Springs and click through his dialogue (even though nothing happens). This reportedly resets the quest state. Then return to the Drak’atal brazier.

Lore Context

Drak’atal Passage is the border crossing from Grizzly Hills into the Drakkari homeland of Zul’Drak. The trolls you’re killing here are not aggressors; they’re the last line of defense trying to keep the Scourge from pouring through this gap into their empire.

The mojo is called “Desperate” for a reason (its flavor text reads: “Smells like fear…”). You are slaughtering frightened border guards on behalf of the troll who secretly orchestrated the Scourge invasion of their fortress.

Drakuru’s turn-in dialogue drips with irony: “Fate be kind in bringin’ us together. Soon I be avengin’ me bruddas by cleansin’ Drak’Tharon.” He is not avenging anyone. He is the betrayer.

The quest reward is the Heart of the Ancients as an inventory item, which Drakuru now “holds through you” (as the quest title suggests). Each artifact you’ve gathered gives him more power over the ritual to come.
