“The defeat of Thor Modan is a great achievement,” he said. “But the iron dwarves can still enslave my brothers. Gavrock is searching for a way to free them. Look for him at the Ruins of Tethys, off the Eastwind Shore.”
I traveled south until mist-shrouded islands appeared off the coast. Stone fragments jutted from the water like broken fingers. On the largest island stood Gavrock, a colossus who dwarfed even Kurun’s giants, his stony skin traced with ancient runes.
When Gavrock spoke, the stones beneath my feet vibrated. “You come from Thor Modan. Good. But the iron dwarves’ hold extends further than one city. Loken commands them from his hiding place, preparing for war with the goal of exterminating every child of stone.”
Loken. Even here, far from Ulduar, the name meant danger.
“My brothers languish under their runes,” Gavrock continued. “I am searching for a way to break those chains. Will you help?”
The war for Grizzly Hills had been about lumber and territory. This was older than any war between Alliance and Horde. This reached back to the titans themselves.
Gavrock’s brothers languish under iron dwarf runes, and the colossus can’t break what he doesn’t understand. The first step to freeing them begins with Runes of Compulsion.
