“We know that Kolramas, the crashed necropolis to the southeast, was carrying a large amount of an ore known as saronite when the trolls shot it down. My scouts tell me that much of the saronite is strewn about within the innards of that thing. Eitrigg and his friends back at The Argent Stand want a bunch of the stuff so that they can study it.
I want you to head in there and see if you can collect enough for them.”
-Captain Rupert
Captain Rupert has asked you to collect 10 Chunks of Saronite and deliver them to Eitrigg at The Argent Stand.

You will be able to choose one of these rewards:
Upon completion of this quest you will gain:
Quest Giver: Captain Rupert — Drak’Sotra, Zul’Drak [58, 72]
Turn In: Eitrigg — The Argent Stand, Zul’Drak
Objective: Collect 10 Chunks of Saronite from inside Kolramas and deliver them to Eitrigg at The Argent Stand.
Quick Facts
Walkthrough
Head to the crashed necropolis Kolramas, entering at [60, 79] on the west side.
The Chunks of Saronite are scattered on the floor inside the structure on both the first and second stories. They look like miniature versions of regular Saronite Deposits, roughly 10 times smaller. They’re teal/aqua-colored with a faint golden sparkle, sitting on the grey stone floor. Walk over them and right-click to pick them up.
A good cluster of 4-8 can be found up the ramp at approximately [61, 76], inside the upper level. 10 chunks should take one pass through the interior.
Tips
After collecting 10 chunks, you do NOT return to Captain Rupert. Fly to The Argent Stand [40, 66] and turn the quest in to Eitrigg.
Turn-In Event (Don’t Walk Away)
Turning in the quest triggers one of the best scripted NPC events in Zul’Drak. Eitrigg places the saronite ore on the ground near the brazier, then calls over his colleagues to figure out what they’re dealing with:
Lore Context
Saronite is named after Yogg-Saron, the Old God imprisoned beneath Northrend in Ulduar. It’s literally crystallized Old God blood. This is why Korfax calls it “pure evil” on sight and why nature, elements, and even the Light can’t affect it. The saronite is antithetical to every benevolent force on Azeroth.
Captain Rupert’s quest text reveals why Kolramas was carrying saronite: the Scourge was transporting a large shipment when the Drakkari shot the necropolis down.
The ore scattered inside the wreckage. This means the Scourge had an active saronite logistics chain through Zul’Drak, another layer to their war effort beyond just raising the dead.
The scene echoes two film references. The saronite resisting every method of destruction parallels the Council of Elrond scene in The Lord of the Rings, where Gimli’s axe shatters against the One Ring.
The concept of “concentrated evil” as a substance is a direct callback to Time Bandits (1981), where the Supreme Being warns about “concentrated evil” that could turn people into hermit crabs.
The scene has no direct follow-up quest, leaving the saronite’s fate to Highlord Fordring. Players later encounter saronite extensively in Icecrown, where Saronite Mines operate using slave labor, and ultimately face Yogg-Saron himself in Ulduar, the source of all saronite.

Vikstone's War JournalSaronite. The Blood of Yogg-Saron. Even hardened miners speak of it in whispers.

Kolramas was carrying a large shipment when the trolls shot it down. Chunks of the ore lay through the wreckage, gleaming with a sickly light that reminded me of black infected wounds. Each piece felt cold through my gloves as if it was pulling heat from more than just my hands.
Eitrigg was waiting at Argent Stand. “Can you not feel the pure evil of the stuff? We must determine its origins.”
They tried everything. Rayne called on nature magic. “By the Goddess. It’s as if Nature can’t touch it!” Rimblat’s shamanic power fared no better. Avenger Metz finally tried the Light directly, Hammer of Wrath crashing down on the ore.
The explosion knocked everyone flat.
Eitrigg dusted himself off. “Clearly this is getting us nowhere. We need to get this saronite to Highlord Fordring for further study.” He looked at the ore, still sitting there unchanged. “We’ll unlock its secrets. Hopefully before it’s too late.”
The saronite sat unchanged on Eitrigg’s floor, and nobody at the Argent Stand had answers. Gundrak held something else worth collecting in One of a Kind
