Quest Giver: Hexxer Ubungo — The Argent Stand, Zul’Drak [40, 66]

Objective: Acquire 3 Precious Elemental Fluids.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Farm Water Elemental Links

• Head south to the Drak’Sotra Fields [~41, 76]. Kill Crazed Water Spirits to collect Water Elemental Links.
• You need 9 links total (3 per tether, 3 tethers needed), but you can only hold 3 at a time. Combine them immediately when you have 3. Combine into a Tether to the Plane of Water, then keep farming.
• Drop rate is inconsistent. Reports range from 15% to 50%+, with most estimating around 30-35%. Expect to kill 25-30+ water spirits total. This is one of the more tedious quests in the zone.

Step 2: Summon and Kill Watery Lords

• Use each Tether to the Plane of Water to summon a Watery Lord. Each one drops 1 Precious Elemental Fluid (100% drop rate).
• Warning: The Watery Lord hits hard with a frost knockback that deals ~3-3.5k damage and launches you into the air. Be at reasonable health before engaging.
• Do NOT drop combat. Feign Death, Vanish, Shadowmeld, and dying will all cause the Watery Lord to despawn, wasting your tether. Fight to the death.

Step 3: Turn In

• Return to Hexxer Ubungo at the Argent Stand with all 3 fluids.

Efficiency Tips

• Do this alongside The Drakkari Do Not Need Water Elementals! and Something for the Pain from Captain Brandon. All three quests overlap in Drak’Sotra Fields.
• Group play is a major time-saver. The Precious Elemental Fluids are group-lootable, meaning every party member gets a fluid from each Watery Lord kill. A group of 3 can finish in one-third the time.
• Frost Mages and Frost DKs: The Crazed Water Spirits are immune to frost damage. You’ll need to rely on non-frost abilities for the farming phase. However, the Watery Lords themselves are not frost-immune, so you can go all-out on the summoned bosses.

Easter Egg

• Dr. Strangelove (1964): The quest name references General Jack D. Ripper’s obsession with protecting “our precious bodily fluids” from communist contamination in Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
