Taking Battle To The Enemy

Quest 3 of 5 in the Champion Dailies Group
Daily Quest
Both Factions • Icecrown • Level 80 • Argent Tournament Grounds
Kill 15 members of the Cult of the Damned anywhere in Icecrown.
Cultists only. Ordinary Scourge undead do not count. Deathspeaker's Watch is directly west of the grounds and dense enough to finish this on its own, which also makes it the natural stop on a Champion daily run. Aldur'thar's northern side is the fallback when the Watch is busy. The Undying Formation at 64, 63 is fifteen cultists standing still in one group, which ends the daily in a single pull if you have the AoE for it. Do not count on Chillmaw's bombardiers contributing.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
Fifteen men in robes at Deathspeaker's Watch, every one of them alive and every one of them there by choice. Cellian called him an example to the brethren.

“The coliseum is perched in the most dangerous part of the world, Vikstone. The territory we’ve taken from the Scourge has been paid for in blood and misery, yet the enemy continues to strike back with a seemingly limitless army. To make matters worse, this undead army is supported and assisted by mortal sympathizers, the Cult of the Damned.

Go forth into Icecrown and slay any cultists you encounter.”

-Cellian Daybreak

Walkthrough

Where to Find Cult of the Damned Members

You can kill cultists anywhere in Icecrown, but some locations are much better than others. Only Cult of the Damned mobs count (not generic Scourge undead).

Location Coordinates Notes
Deathspeaker’s Watch [48, 20] to [61, 23] Directly west of the Tournament Grounds. High density of cultists. Most convenient location for tournament-focused daily runs.
Aldur’thar (North Side) [49, 33] to [57, 30] Packed with cultists inside and outside structures. Good if Deathspeaker’s Watch is crowded.
Aldur’thar (South Side) [54, 46] Smaller pockets but still viable.
Undying Formation [64, 63] 15 Undying Minions standing in formation plus a Shadow Adept. One-stop clearing if you have strong AoE.
Sindragosa’s Fall [67, 37] to [75, 44] Cultists are spread out. Use as a fallback if other areas are crowded.

Mobs That Count and Don’t Count

  • Do count: Any mob tagged as Cult of the Damned, including Dark Ritualists, Dark Zealots, Deathspeaker agents, Undying Minions, Shadow Adepts, and the Cult Assassin from The Black Knight’s Curse.
  • Do NOT count: The three Cultist Bombardiers from Threat From Above. Do not plan your count around getting credit from Chillmaw’s adds.
  • Do NOT count (post-3.2): Generic Scourge undead (skeletons, ghouls, geists, etc.) no longer count. Before Patch 3.2, any Scourge mob in Icecrown worked. This change also means this quest can no longer share kills with the Valiant-level Scourge daily.

Efficiency Tips

  • Best combo route: Pick up this quest alongside Threat From Above and Battle Before The Citadel. Fly southwest from the Tournament Grounds to kill Chillmaw first, then work through cultists at Deathspeaker’s Watch or Aldur’thar on your way to the Boneguard Commanders for Battle Before The Citadel.
  • Pair with Leave Our Mark: Leave Our Mark is an Ebon Blade daily that requires killing Icecrown Scourge (Vrykul count). While different mobs are needed, both quests can be worked in the same area during the same run for additional gold and Ebon Blade reputation.
  • Pair with The Black Knight’s Curse: If you still have this quest available, the Cult Assassin spawned during that quest counts toward your 15 kills. The Assassin and Saboteur at the graveyard also respawn very quickly, making them farmable.
  • AoE at the Undying Formation: The cluster of 15 Undying Minions at [64, 63] can be AoE’d down in a single pull for instant completion if your class has the tools for it.

Vikstone Portrait Act 3

Any cultists, anywhere in Icecrown. No assigned ground and no shortage of them. Cellian Daybreak wants fifteen a day and does not much mind where they come from.

Deathspeaker’s Watch is west of the grounds and holds more than fifteen, so that is where I went. They wear robes and they die in them, and every one of them chose this.

“You are a true champion, Vikstone, both inside the ring and on the field,” Cellian said. “We must all be vigilant against the Scourge and you are a great example to our brethren and your own people.”

Your own people. He meant it kindly.

Cultists in robes are the easy half of the Cult’s contribution to Icecrown, and the other half is armored, mounted, and waiting at the gates in Battle Before The Citadel.
