Macalroy stands at the end of the dock where the boat from Menethil Harbor arrives. He’s the first quest giver Alliance players encounter in Howling Fjord.
Walk northwest approximately 40 yards to Vice Admiral Keller, who stands near the cannons overlooking Daggercap Bay. The quest auto-completes on approach.

Lore Context
Macalroy’s mention of “Fordragon” refers to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, Regent of Stormwind and commander of Alliance forces in Northrend. The implication that Fordragon sent “green-gilled scrubs” reflects the desperation of the Valiance Expedition, which is stretched thin across two landing zones. Players will encounter Bolvar later at Fordragon Hold in Dragonblight during the Wrathgate questline, where his fate takes a dramatic turn.
The “monsters flying overhead” are Dragonflayer proto-drake riders from Utgarde Keep, visible circling Valgarde and occasionally attacking. Vice Admiral Keller’s completion text notes that Valgarde is one of only two safe Alliance harbors in Northrend, the other being Valiance Keep in Borean Tundra.
Easter Egg: “All Out of Bubble Gum”
Macalroy’s quest text reads: “Report to Vice Admiral Keller just northwest of here and let him know that you’re all out of bubble gum.”
This is a reference to the 1988 film They Live, directed by John Carpenter. The protagonist Nada (played by wrestler Roddy Piper) delivers the iconic ad-libbed line: “I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass… and I’m all out of bubblegum.”
The quote was later adapted by Duke Nukem 3D (1996), which reversed the phrasing to “It’s time to kick ass and chew bubble gum… and I’m all out of gum.” Many players mistakenly believe Duke Nukem originated the line.

Macalroy, his name was. He looked me over and lingered on my gear, the wear patterns, the way I stood.
“You, however, might fare a bit better.” He jerked his chin toward the cliffs above us. “The importance of holding this port cannot be stated enough. And with those monsters flying overhead, the situation around here has gone from bad to worse.”
Shadows crossed the sun. Something large was above, swooping around.
“Report to Vice Admiral Keller just northwest of here. He’ll put you to work.”
Keller stood at the heart of the defenses, coordinating what he had.
“The dwarf speaks the truth. We can’t afford to lose this port. It’s one of two safe harbors that the Alliance has on this chunk of frozen hell. The other being a few hundred miles west of here on the coast of the Borean Tundra.”
Valiance Keep. I remembered it well.
