Nice to Meat You

Alliance • Grizzly Hills • Level 75 • Harkor's Camp
Collect 10 Fibrous Worg Meat from Duskhowl Prowlers and 10 Shovelhorn Steaks from Longhoof Grazers.
100% drop rate on both. Grazers are passive along the river near [75, 40]. Prowlers are hostile near Duskhowl Den [65, 43]. Watch for Runed Stone Giants (level 75 elites) in the prowler area. They spawn unpredictably and hit hard. Stay near the cave for a safe reset point. If doing the Gavrock line simultaneously, the giants become quest targets instead of hazards. Grab Therapy and It Takes Guts… from camp before heading out.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
Honest work for honest hunger. The worgs fell fast, the grazers didn't fight back, and Harkor had the fire stoked before Vikstone crossed the last hill back to camp.

“G‘day to ya, Warrior! Have yerself a seat by me fire, eh? I’d offer to share a nice hot meal, only I ain’t got one. I’m stuck here waitin’ on an associate, or I’d be out tryin’ to remedy that situation meself. Say, you seem to have nuthin’ but time on yer hands and there be plenty o’ meat in these parts.

What say ya lend a hand and round up some grub?”

Harkor at Harkor’s Camp wants you to collect 10 pieces of Fibrous Worg Meat from Duskhowl Prowlers and 10 Shovelhorn Steaks from Longhoof Grazers.

  • Fibrous Worg Meat (10)
  • Shovelhorn Steak (10)

Fibrous Worg Meat: Location: Best farm spot is at coordinates 65, 43. Drop rate has been updated to 100% (Patch 3.0.9), making it less grindy. Avoid Runed Giants (level 75 elites) that spawn randomly in the area. These can appear without warning. Shovelhorn Steak: Location: Found on Longhoof Grazers around 78, 39, near the river northeast of Dun Argol. Drop rate is 100%. This area is slightly safer as Runed Giants rarely spawn near the river.

Walkthrough

Quest Giver: Harkor — dwarf adventurer at Harkor’s Camp [73.8, 34.0]

Objective: Collect 10 Fibrous Worg Meat from Duskhowl Prowlers and 10 Shovelhorn Steaks from Longhoof Grazers. Return to Harkor.

Quick Facts

  • Level: 75 (requires 73)
  • Prerequisite: None (can be picked up directly at camp, Say Hello to My Little Friend is just a breadcrumb that points you here)
  • Unlocks: Nothing. Standalone quest.

Do Alongside

The Duskhowl Prowler and Longhoof Grazer areas overlap with several quests from the eastern Grizzly Hills hubs:

  • Latent Power/Free At Last (Gavrok questline) — These quests deal with the Runed Stone Giants in the same area. If you’re doing them simultaneously, the giants are quest targets instead of hazards.
  • Therapy (Harkor) — Kill Drakkari at Drakil’jin. Pick this up at the same time.
  • It Takes Guts… (Kraz) — Also at Harkor’s Camp. Grab before heading out.

Walkthrough

Shovelhorn Steaks (10) — Longhoof Grazers, riverside area [75-78, 38-42]

  • Longhoof Grazers are passive (neutral) shoveltusk creatures grazing along the river northeast of Dun Argol. They won’t attack unless provoked.
  • Drop rate: 100%.
  • Safer area: The river around [75, 40] has Grazers without the Runed Giant spawns that plague the inland fields. Head downstream toward [78, 39] for additional spawns away from giant patrol paths.
  • Watch for Duskhowl Prowlers attacking Grazers. Worgs naturally prey on the shoveltusks, sometimes killing them before you can tag them. If you see a worg chewing on a Grazer, kill the worg first, then finish the Grazer.

Fibrous Worg Meat (10) — Duskhowl Prowlers, inland area [65-70, 40-45]

  • Duskhowl Prowlers are hostile worgs found across the fields between Camp Oneqwah and Solstice Village.
  • Best farm spot: Duskhowl Den [65.7, 43], a small cave with a tight cluster of worgs and fast respawns. This is the same cave connected to the Silverbrook worgen storyline (Sasha’s kidnapped sister Anya is inside).
  • Drop rate: 100% in WotLK Classic. (Originally ~20-30% at launch, buffed to 100% in patch 3.0.9)
  • Combat note: Duskhowl Prowlers use Gore (Physical damage bleed, ticking every 3 seconds for 15 seconds). Stacks can hurt if you chain-pull carelessly.

Runed Stone Giants (The Real Hazard)

The entire Duskhowl Prowler farming area is infested with Runed Stone Giants (level 75 elites). These are the quest’s actual challenge, not the worgs themselves.

  • Giants spawn and despawn unpredictably. There is no fixed patrol route. They can materialize directly on top of your position without warning.
  • They hit hard. At-level players (74-76) cannot casually fight them. Getting caught by one during a worg pull is often fatal.
  • Strategies:
    • Hunters: Use Track Giants (not Track Beasts) to see them on the minimap. Keep Feign Death ready.
    • Stealth classes: Can avoid entirely, but giants may spawn during combat.
    • Everyone else: Stay near Duskhowl Den [65.7, 43] where the cave provides a safe reset point. If a giant spawns on you, run into the cave; it should leash.
    • Best strategy: Do the Gavrok quest chain simultaneously (Latent Power/Free At Last) which has you freeing the Runed Giants. This turns them from random deadly hazards into quest objectives.

Recommended Route

  1. Start at Harkor’s Camp. Pick up Nice to Meat You, Therapy, and It Takes Guts from Kraz.
  2. Head southwest to the Longhoof Grazer area along the river [75-78, 39]. Collect 10 Shovelhorn Steaks (safe, fast, 100% drop, passive mobs).
  3. Continue west to Duskhowl Den [65.7, 43]. Kill worgs in and around the cave for 10 Fibrous Worg Meat. Watch for giants.
  4. Return to Harkor’s Camp and turn in.

Lore Context

Harkor asks for help because he’s “stuck waitin’ on an associate” and can’t leave camp to hunt himself. The associate is the player delivering ingredients via Say Hello to My Little Friend. Ironically, you just delivered him gourmet stew ingredients, and his immediate response is to send you right back out for more food.

The Duskhowl Prowlers are tied to the Silverbrook worgen storyline. The Duskhowl Den [65.7, 43] is where Sasha’s sister Anya is held captive, surrounded by wolves, as part of the worgen infection chain. The worgs in this area aren’t ordinary predators; they’re connected to the worgen curse spreading through Grizzly Hills.

The Runed Stone Giants are Iron Dwarf constructs powered by titan runes. They’re tied to the Gavrok/Iron Dwarf storyline operating out of Dun Argol and Thor Modan. Their unpredictable spawning behavior is a mechanical quirk, not a lore feature, but it makes them one of Grizzly Hills’ most memorable (and frustrating) environmental hazards.

Harkor gestured at his empty cookfire. “I’d offer to share a nice hot meal, only I ain’t got one. I’m stuck here waitin’ on an associate, or I’d be out remedyin’ that meself.”

He looked me over. “You seem to have nuthin’ but time on yer hands. What say ya lend a hand and round up some grub?”

Honest work for honest hunger. The Duskhowl prowlers hunted in small packs along the coast. The Longhoof grazers barely noticed my approach until it was too late.

When I returned, Harkor was already stoking the flames. “Outstanding! Nuthin’ better with a pint than a hot morsel of meat.”

I stayed for the meal.

The stew was worth the trip. But Mack Fearsen’s bonfire back at Granite Springs has work left to do in Seared Scourge.
