Quest Giver: Image of Archmage Modera — Stars’ Rest, Dragonblight [29, 55]

Objective: Kill Wind Trader Mu’fah and Goramosh, then deliver Wind Trader Mu’fah’s Remains and The Scales of Goramosh to the Image of Archmage Modera.

Walkthrough

Find the Two-Story Building

• Head to the western half of Moonrest Gardens. Look for the large two-story building overlooking the central pit. Both targets are in and around this structure.

Kill Wind Trader Mu’fah

• Wind Trader Mu’fah is an ethereal found near the building’s entrance at ground level [~18, 59]. He’s waiting outside for an audience with Goramosh, guarded by a Dragonblight Mage Hunter blocking the doorway. Clear the mage hunter first, then engage Mu’fah. He’s a straightforward fight with no notable mechanics.
• Loot Wind Trader Mu’fah’s Remains from his corpse.

Kill Goramosh

• Enter the building and head up the ramp to the upper level [~20, 58]. Goramosh is a level 73 blue dragonspawn performing a ritual. He hits harder than Mu’fah and uses Frostbolt (single-target frost damage with a movement speed slow) and Cone of Cold (frontal AoE frost damage with a movement slow). Melee classes should avoid standing in front of him to dodge Cone of Cold. Casters can kite him around the upper floor.
• Loot The Scales of Goramosh for quest completion.

Don’t Miss: Goramosh’s Strange Device

• Goramosh also drops Goramosh’s Strange Device, which starts the quest A Strange Device. This is the next link in the Stars’ Rest chain and leads to Projections and Plans.
• Important: The device only drops while you are on Prevent the Accord. If you skip looting it or abandon the quest before killing Goramosh, you’ll need to come back.

Return to Stars’ Rest

• Deliver both items to the Image of Archmage Modera. Her completion dialogue reveals a grim detail: Goramosh confirmed the accord between the Ethereum and the blue dragonflight was already reached before you killed him. You didn’t prevent anything. Modera pivots to damage control, and the chain continues with A Strange Device.

Efficiency Tips

• Pick up all three Modera quests (Rifle the Bodies, Prevent the Accord, and the simultaneously available quest slot) before heading to Moonrest Gardens. Also grab Avenge this Atrocity! from Ethenial Moonshadow when you arrive. You’ll kill plenty of mage hunters en route to Mu’fah and Goramosh, making progress on Avenge this Atrocity! naturally.
• Deal with Mu’fah first (ground level), then proceed upstairs to Goramosh. This follows the natural layout of the building and avoids having to fight back through respawns.

Lore Context

Archmage Modera describes the mission: “We need to kill two birds with one stone here. You’re the stone.” Your two “birds” are the Ethereum’s ambassador (Wind Trader Mu’fah) and the blue dragonflight’s negotiator (Goramosh).

The Ethereum are a militant faction of ethereals first encountered in Outland during The Burning Crusade, where they attempted to “become void” using the manaforges of Netherstorm. Their presence in Northrend working alongside Malygos represents a dangerous escalation of the Nexus War. Mu’fah claims to represent a nexus-prince, indicating this wasn’t a rogue operation but a sanctioned Ethereum initiative.

Listen to Mu’fah’s idle dialogue before engaging him. He cycles through frustrated lines about being kept waiting, including: “I was personally assured by Malygos that your commander would make the deals of this accord his top priority.”

This confirms Malygos himself authorized the alliance.

Cross-Expansion Connection

Legion: The consequences of this failed mission play out years later. During the Burning Legion’s third invasion, it’s revealed that Malygos promised the Ethereum access to the blue dragonflight’s treasure vaults within the Nexus as part of the accord you tried to prevent here.

The Ethereum used that agreement to launch an assault on the Nexus, attempting once again to “become void” using the stored arcane power. Despite your efforts at Moonrest Gardens, the accord held.
