Right-click 5 cowering Crusade Recruits near Captain Rupert's position at [53, 73] to restore their courage.

No combat, no items, no channel time. Just click the crouching friendly NPCs with green names. Fastest and easiest Rupert task. Can interact while mounted. Enough recruits in the area that respawns aren't an issue. Watch for patrolling hostiles. Rupert directs you to Captain Grondel at [48, 64].

Vikstone's Classic Expedition

They were green soldiers crouched behind rubble after their first real battle. Most just needed to see someone still standing and moving forward. That was enough to get them on their feet.

“Finally, the patrol arrives! Here’s the situation, Night Elf. We’ve lost many of our finest soldiers in this campaign and have had to call upon our recruits to fill in the gaps. We’ve just fought one of our fiercest battles and many of the recruits were simply not prepared to face this enemy. There are more fights ahead, and I need them ready to follow orders.

If there’s one thing I can’t stomach, it’s cowardice. Perhaps you can help them find the courage to continue.”

Captain Rupert in Drak’Sotra wants you to restore courage to the cowering Crusade Recruits.

Recruit’s Courage Restored (5)

Locate the Crusade Recruits:
The Crusade Recruits can be found around 53, 73, scattered throughout the area near the quest giver.
They are marked with green NPC names.
Boost Morale:
Simply interact with the recruits by right-clicking on them. You’ll bolster their morale through a quick dialogue.

Walkthrough

Quest Giver: Captain Rupert — Drak’Sotra, Zul’Drak [58, 72]

Objective: Restore courage to 5 cowering Crusade Recruits in the Drak’Sotra area.

Walkthrough

The Crusade Recruits are scattered around [53, 73], near Rupert’s position. They’re friendly NPCs (green names) crouching on the ground.
Right-click each cowering recruit to restore their courage. This is a quick interaction with no channel time.
You need 5 total. There are enough recruits in the area that you shouldn’t need to wait for respawns.
After completing, Rupert directs you to Captain Grondel to the northeast near the Coliseum.

Efficiency Tips

This is the easiest and fastest of Rupert’s three possible tasks. No combat, no items to use, just click NPCs.
Watch for patrolling hostile mobs in the area. You can interact with recruits even while mounted, so stay on your flying mount and drop down only briefly for each recruit.
Do Alongside: Rupert’s other possible tasks (Done to Death and Throwing Down) are all in Drak’Sotra.

WotLK Classic Note

This quest was originally the most valuable Troll Patrol sub-quest for reputation, awarding 250 Argent Crusade rep (pre-hotfix). It was exploited by players who would repeatedly abandon and retake the quest to grind to Exalted in hours. Blizzard hotfixed all sub-quests to award 0 individual reputation. All Troll Patrol rep now comes from the main quest turn-in (455) and the timed bonus (650).

I found them scattered through Drak’Sotra, crouched behind rubble or pressed against walls. Green soldiers who’d just seen their first real battle.

What do you say to terrified children playing at war?

I said what I could. “On your feet. The line needs you.” Sometimes I put a hand on a shoulder. Most of them just needed to see someone still standing, still moving forward. That was enough.

They rose. Shaky, but upright.

“Counter-attack’s imminent,” Rupert told me when I returned. “Not a moment too soon.”

Rupert’s last rotation swaps morale for munitions, and the Nerubian tunnels underneath Drak’Sotra need sealing again in Troll Patrol: Throwing Down.
