Quest Giver: Crusader Lord Lantinga — Light’s Breach, Zul’Drak [32, 76]

Objective: Search Rageclaw Den for a clue about who initiated the attacks against the Rageclaw wolvar.

Walkthrough

• Head southeast from Light’s Breach to Rageclaw Den [34, 84]. The objective is a rolled scroll floating above a strange altar/pillar at [34, 83].
• The scroll is interactable. Click it and the quest auto-completes on the spot (no return trip needed for this step, but the follow-up turns in at Light’s Breach).
• You’ll be in the same area as the other Light’s Breach quests, so complete all three simultaneously.

Efficiency Tips

• This is the quest you don’t want to forget. It’s easy to get absorbed in killing trolls and dousing fires for the other two quests without ever walking to the scroll. Make a point to grab it while you’re in the den.
• The follow-up, Orders From Drakuru, turns in right back at Crusader Lord Lantinga. This short chain is the gateway to the entire Ebon Watch questline and the Drakuru infiltration storyline, one of Zul’Drak’s best quest arcs.

Lore Context

Crusader Lord Lantinga explains that the Drakkari trolls and Rageclaw wolvar had been allies for thousands of years. The Rageclaw had no concept of factional divisions among trolls (“to the Rageclaw, a troll is a troll”), so the Drakuru-aligned attack blindsided them completely.

The scroll you recover reveals that Drakuru, now a Scourge Overlord, is commanding the troll forces in Zul’Drak. If you completed the Drakuru questline in Grizzly Hills (where he manipulated players into helping him), this is the moment the Argent Crusade connects the dots.

Lantinga’s reaction when he reads the orders is notable: he mutters that if this is the same Drakuru from Drak’Tharon Keep, they’ll need “outside assistance” from the Knights of the Ebon Blade, despite his personal misgivings about death knights after the Battle of Light’s Hope.

Easter Eggs

• Diablo I reference. The quest name “In Search of Answers” is a nod to Adria the Witch from Diablo I (1997). Her iconic greeting when players approached her hut in Tristram was: “I sense a soul in search of answers.” The phrase became so well-known it was later reused in StarCraft as a Protoss unit Easter egg line. A classic Blizzard self-reference.
• Developer tribute. Crusader Lord Lantinga is named after Sam Lantinga, a former Lead Software Engineer at Blizzard Entertainment (known on the forums as “Slouken”). Lantinga created WoW’s UI addon system and also worked on spells, AI, and gameplay systems, including phasing and battlegrounds. He’s also famous outside Blizzard as the creator of SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer), one of the most widely used open-source multimedia libraries in game development. Lantinga later joined Valve in 2012.
