Walkthrough

Head back to Gymer’s cage at Thrym’s End [19, 56]. Right-click on the Scourge Enclosure (the cage itself, not Gymer) to use the Jumbo Seaforium Charge. The cage blows open and Gymer yells “FREEDOM!”

Talk to Gymer to turn in the quest. He pledges to help you destroy the Scourge, setting up the final quest in the chain.

Troubleshooting

• Cage already open: If another player just completed this quest, you need to wait for the cage to reset and blow it up yourself. You cannot turn in on someone else’s explosion.
• Gymer won’t talk after explosion: A known bug where the cage explodes and Gymer yells but the gate closes again and the quest won’t complete. Try abandoning and retaking the quest, or relogging.

Lore Context

The quest title is a Star Wars reference. Engineer Reed’s description text echoes Princess Leia’s famous hologram message: “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.” Reed says of Gymer: “He’s our only hope.”

Reed describes seaforium as a “highly volatile explosive” with “malleable” properties that can be packed into hinges and cracks for maximum damage.

Seaforium is a recurring explosive material throughout WoW, essentially the Azerothian equivalent of C-4 plastic explosive. Engineers can craft various seaforium charges as a profession perk.

Gymer’s completion dialogue reveals his motivation: the Scourge have been using storm giant corpses to create flesh giants and abominations. This is personal for him, not just a debt repaid.
