Feedin’ Da Goolz

Alliance • Zul'Drak • Level 75 • Reliquary of Agony
Use the Bowels and Brains Bowl near 10 Decaying Ghouls at the Reliquary of Agony [19, 75]. Must be wearing Ensorcelled Choker disguise.
Stand near a ghoul and use the quest-provided bowl. No targeting needed. No cast time. Don't buy Gristlegut's vendor food (similar icon, wrong item). Use the quest item already in your bags. Blightguards see through your disguise and break it on contact. Keep distance. Don't drop bowls near Gristlegut (spawns hostile cockroaches). Do not skip. Access is permanently lost after completing Betrayal.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
From champion of Zul'Drak to ghoul caterer. Vikstone set bowls of something unspeakable in front of decaying ghouls while an abomination cheered "Num num!" and the Ebon Blade's infiltration plan had better be worth the indignity.

“Git o’er heer, gool! Yeh, I talkin’ to yoo. It feedin’ time now. Gotta git da grub ta all da gools! Speshal grub dis time! Bowels an’ brainz bowl… num, num, num. Jus drop da bowl nexta da gool. Gud way ta make frenz. Yoo got goolfrenz? Ha, ha, hah!”

Walkthrough

Quest Giver/Turn In: Gristlegut (Abomination) — Reliquary of Agony, Zul’Drak [19, 75]

Requires: Active Ensorcelled Choker disguise (you must be in Scourge form to interact with Gristlegut)

Objective: Use the Bowels and Brains Bowl (provided) next to 10 Decaying Ghouls.

Quick Facts

Walkthrough

  • Make sure your Ensorcelled Choker disguise is active before approaching Gristlegut. He will not interact with you in your normal form.
  • Accept the quest and receive the Bowels and Brains Bowl (quest item, goes in your inventory).
  • Find Decaying Ghouls wandering around the Reliquary of Agony area near Gristlegut. You do not need to target them. Just stand near a ghoul and use the bowl. It places a bowl of food on the ground with no cast time, and the ghoul runs over to eat it. You can keep moving while dropping bowls.
  • Repeat for 10 ghouls, then return to Gristlegut to turn in.

Warning: Vendor Item Trap

  • Gristlegut is also a vendor. He sells a food item called “Bowels and Brains” that has a similar icon to the quest item. This vendor item does NOT complete the quest. The quest-provided Bowels and Brains Bowl (already in their inventory) is the correct item. Check your quest items, not your purchased consumables.

Hazards

  • Blightguards are the only enemies in the area that see through your Scourge disguise. They will attack on sight, breaking your disguise and causing all surrounding ghouls to turn hostile. Keep your distance from them. Warlocks with Detect Lesser Invisibility can spot Blightguards more easily.
  • Cockroach swarm: If you drop the bowl directly in front of Gristlegut, swarms of Plague Roaches spawn and attack you. Drop your bowls near the wandering ghouls, not in camp.
  • If your disguise drops mid-quest (Blightguards attack, buff expires, or it fails randomly), run out of the area, kill anything chasing you, then re-equip the Ensorcelled Choker out of combat to reapply it.

Do Not Skip This Quest

  • If you advance the Drakuru chain all the way through Betrayal without completing Feedin’ Da Goolz first, you will permanently lose access to it. The Ensorcelled Choker is removed upon completing Betrayal, and while you can normally get replacements from Stefan Vadu at Ebon Watch, completing the chain removes that option. Pick this up as soon as Gristlegut offers it.

Story Context

You are deep undercover as a Scourge ghoul, working for the Knights of the Ebon Blade to infiltrate Overlord Drakuru’s operation on the floating necropolis Voltarus. The Reliquary of Agony sits below Zeramas (a different necropolis from Voltarus, despite the visual similarity) and is infested with Scourge and pools of blight.

Gristlegut is an abomination who speaks in a broken, phonetic dialect and treats the feeding like playtime. His gossip text is equally charming: “Awww… look at da purty lil’ gool. Jump, lil’ gool! Jump! Ha, ha, ha…. Attsa guud lil’ gool.”

The grotesque reward names (Soiled Trousers, Redigested Mail Scraps, Aged Abomination Tripe) are a running joke. Your “payment” for Scourge work is repurposed undead refuse.

The choker’s magic made me look like one of them. Felt like one of them too, which was the disturbing part.

Vikstone Portrait Act 2
Illustrated by Christian DiBari and Simon Gough.

Gristlegut, an abomination with enthusiasm no corpse-stitched monstrosity should possess, handed me a bowl of something I refused to examine closely. “Git o’er heer, gool! It feedin’ time now. Gotta git da grub ta all da gools! Speshal grub dis time! Bowels an’ brainz bowl… num, num, num.”

He thought I was a ghoul. I guess the disguise was working.

“Gud way ta make frenz. Yoo got goolfrenz? Ha, ha, hah!”

I did not have goolfrenz. I set bowls down in front of decaying ghouls who shambled over to eat with sounds I’ll be hearing in nightmares for weeks. Ten bowls, ten satisfied customers.

“Num num!” Gristlegut approved.

Champion of Zul’Drak to ghoul caterer. The Ebon Blade’s infiltration plan better be worth the indignity.

The ghouls were fed, and Vikstone’s cover held. The Ebon Blade’s infiltration was just beginning, and the shadow darkening over Voltarus carried the kind of promise that ends more than just careers in Dark Horizon.
