“It seems so long ago that these hammers pounded and hewed stone instead of iron. Our expulsion from Ulduar saw the weakest of us dead and the strongest of our craftsmen reborn as warriors. As the irons beat us back, even the strongest find themselves failing. We can do little for the wounded, save when we have a stock of enchanted earth.
We used to mine it from the deposits on the sheer cliff face to the northwest, but the constant battle has prevented us from replenishing our stock. Would you help?”

Objective: Use the Earthen Mining Pick to mine 7 clumps of Enchanted Earth. Return them along with 5 Frostweave Cloth to Bouldercrag.

Exit Bouldercrag’s Refuge heading north and look down the cliff face. The Enchanted Earth nodes are on ledges along the sheer cliff around [27, 33] to [28, 34], below the area where Stormforged Reavers and Dolomite Giants fight. Each ledge typically has one node, so expect to hop on and off your flying mount repeatedly.
The nodes look like small rock pillars or burned stumps poking out of the snow. Right-click to mine with the quest-provided pick. No mining profession is required. Miners can track them with Find Minerals, which makes the process much faster.
Return to Bouldercrag with the 7 Enchanted Earth and 5 Frostweave Cloth.

Bouldercrag’s dialogue reveals the cost of exile: “Our expulsion from Ulduar saw the weakest of us dead and the strongest of our craftsmen reborn as warriors.”
The earthen were builders and maintainers by design, not fighters. The enchanted earth is their equivalent of medical supplies, used to literally patch their stone bodies back together. Without access to the deposits, their wounded have been slowly dying.

They know precisely where it is. They have known the whole time. Every earthen in that refuge who could work a pick is standing at a door instead, and so the stock runs down and the wounded lie there.
He needed cloth as well. Five bolts of frostweave, which I had in the pack and they had none of.
The cliff face is north out of the refuge and then straight down. The pick they gave me is earthen work, short in the haft and heavier at the head than a man would build it. It goes into that rock like a spoon into porridge.
Seven clumps out of the face, one hand on the pick and the other on the rock the whole while.

The strongest of our craftsmen reborn as warriors. I have been a soldier since before any of this. Nothing was taken from me to make one. When I set down the tools I carry, there is nothing underneath them that I was first.
Seven clumps of earth meant a few more of the wounded could be patched together, though patching is not the same as healing, and what the earthen actually needed was somebody to bring Relief for the Fallen.
