Loken’s Lackeys

Quest 8 of 9 in the Reckoning Chain
Both Factions • The Storm Peaks • Level 80 • Terrace of the Makers
Slay Eisenfaust, Halefnir the Windborn, and Duronn the Runewrought.
All three are level 80 elites, so summon the Warders with the Horn before each fight and again between them. Eisenfaust is closest, inside the Hall of the Shaper to the north, and clearing the dwarves around him first makes it routine. Halefnir sits further northwest past the stairs and chains lightning between targets. Duronn is the only one that needs a plan. He casts a heal that restores him to full, and if it lands you start over. Any interrupt works, including the Warders' own Earth Shock, but clear the patrols nearby first so nothing pulls you off the interrupt. Save him for last. Run this together with The Earthen Oath and the dwarves you kill on the route count for both. If the Warders have no pet bar, they still work, so keep fighting and reload your UI when convenient.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
A giant, a storm, and a thing made of runes, all three built from titan design and all three turned. Thorim counted them off one by one afterward and said his brother's insurrection would soon be over.

“The attack on the Terrace of the Makers was not a half-hearted move on my brother’s behalf. He sent a legion of iron dwarves and some of his most powerful lieutenants. Use the Horn of the Peaks to call the earthen to your side and defeat Loken’s servants. You’ll find the giant, Eisenfaust, inside the Hall of the Shaper to the north.

You’ll find the others deeper inside the Terrace of the Makers, beyond the stairs to the northwest.”

Quick Facts

Walkthrough

Use the Horn of the Peaks to summon your four Oathbound Warders before each lieutenant fight. The warders will target whatever you target and use their own abilities, including an Earth Shock interrupt confirmed to work against Duronn’s heal. Resummon between fights since each lieutenant deals heavy damage that wears the squad down.

All three lieutenants are Level 80 Elites. Here’s each target with verified locations, creature types, and key mechanics:

Lieutenant Type Location Coords Key Ability Danger Level
Eisenfaust Stone Giant Hall of the Shaper (golden dome building). Entrance at ~[57, 44]. [55.5, 43.4] Stomp — AoE damage + knockback to nearby enemies. Low. Tank-and-spank with warders. Clear nearby iron dwarves first.
Halefnir the Windborn Lightning Revenant (Elemental) Open area on the stairs/platform northwest of the Hall of the Shaper. [48.4, 45.9] Chain Lightning — Arcs to up to 3 targets, reduced damage per bounce. Medium. Spread out to limit chain bounces. Watch for patrolling iron dwarves nearby.
Duronn the Runewrought Iron Golem Inside a building further northwest, past Halefnir’s position. [44.9, 38.1] Reconstruction — Heals to full HP. Interruptible. Also has Stomp (AoE knockback). Highest. Must interrupt Reconstruction or the fight resets to zero.

Duronn Strategy (The Hard One) Duronn is the only lieutenant that requires a real plan. His Reconstruction ability will restore him to full health if the cast completes. The Oathbound Warders’ Earth Shock ability can interrupt it, and so can any player interrupt (Counterspell, Mind Freeze, Pummel, etc.), fear effects, or stuns.

Clear nearby iron dwarf patrols before engaging so you aren’t fighting adds mid-interrupt window.

Halefnir Tip: Banish Works Halefnir is classified as an Elemental. Warlocks can Banish him for crowd control, and abilities like Shaman Purge or Mage Spellsteal may interact with his buffs. This is particularly useful if you need to recover between fights or deal with adds first.

Efficient Pathing

  1. From Thorim [56, 51], head north into the Hall of the Shaper and kill Eisenfaust [55.5, 43.4]. He’s closest and easiest.
  2. Continue northwest to the staircase/platform area and kill Halefnir [48.4, 45.9].
  3. Push further northwest to Duronn [44.9, 38.1] inside the building. Save him for last since he’s the toughest fight.
  4. Kill iron dwarves and iron sentinels along the way to progress The Earthen Oath simultaneously.

Troubleshooting

  • Pet bar missing for warders: Type /reload or /console reloadui. This is a widely reported bug where the Oathbound Warder controls fail to appear. The warders still function as pets and will respond to targeting.
  • No kill credit: Make sure you personally tag each lieutenant (land at least one hit yourself) rather than relying entirely on the warders.

Lore Context

Thorim’s quest text calls Loken’s attack “not a half-hearted move,” reflecting that Loken sent his best forces to hold the Terrace of the Makers, a titan facility Thorim once governed.

These three lieutenants represent the variety of corrupted titan-forged at Loken’s disposal: a stone giant (Eisenfaust), a lightning revenant (Halefnir), and an iron golem (Duronn). Each is a creature type originally designed to serve the Keepers, now turned against them.

Eisenfaust means “Iron Fist” in German, fitting the Storm Peaks’ heavy Norse/Germanic naming conventions. His title <Servant of Loken> makes the loyalty explicit.

Naming Discrepancy: The quest description text from Thorim refers to “Duronn the Runeforged,” but the NPC’s actual in-game name is “Duronn the Runewrought.” This is a known inconsistency in Blizzard’s text.

Clearing these lieutenants is the last piece of preparation before The Reckoning, where Thorim marches directly into Loken’s trap. Every victory here reinforces Thorim’s overconfidence, which is exactly what Loken wants.

I had the horn in my hand the whole time he was talking.

Eisenfaust held the Hall of the Shaper. An iron giant, and the name means iron fist in somebody’s tongue. The warders brought the stone up around his legs and I went in at the seam under the arm where the plate is riveted and worked it until the arm came away. He kept on after that. They generally do.

Halefnir the Windborn was up past the stairs with weather at his back, and the climb cost me a good deal more than the fight did. I put myself behind the warders and let them stand in it, which is what stone is for. When the gale broke I was already inside his guard and the claymore went in under the sternum.

Duronn the Runeforged was the one that nearly had me. Runes came up around him faster than I could read them. A two-hander at full commitment does not require much of an edge, and he came apart from the shoulder down.

Three of them, and the horn sounded between each.

“It is good to see you again,” Thorim said. “One by one, my brother’s servants have fallen. Loken’s insurrection will soon come to an end.”

Thorim had swept his brother’s lieutenants off the Terrace and could not see anything left standing between himself and Loken. The whole long road from a goblin cage at K3 had been built to bring Vikstone here for The Reckoning.
