Quest Giver: Bouldercrag the Rockshaper — Bouldercrag’s Refuge, Storm Peaks [31, 38]

Objective: Destroy the North Lightning Forge, Central Lightning Forge, and South Lightning Forge at Narvir’s Cradle using Bouldercrag’s Bombs.

Walkthrough

• Pick up both this quest and Hit Them Where it Hurts from Bruor Ironbane before heading out. Both are available simultaneously after turning in Valduran the Stormborn.
• Fly south from Bouldercrag’s Refuge to Narvir’s Cradle [29, 45]. This is the large open construction pit with the massive Iron Colossus under assembly. Do NOT confuse it with Nidavelir (the iron dwarf village to the southwest where you did previous quests).
• The three forges are arranged in a roughly straight line at ground level near the feet of the Colossus. They look like conical brown dwarf-head structures with blue crystals on top. They’re smaller than you might expect:
  • North Lightning Forge: [28.9, 45.8] — guarded by 2 Stormforged Artificers
  • Central Lightning Forge: [29.6, 45.9] — guarded by 1 Artificer
  • South Lightning Forge: [30.3, 46.1] — guarded by 1 Artificer
• Clear the Artificer guards near each forge (they count toward Hit Them Where it Hurts). Then stand close to the forge, open your inventory, and right-click Bouldercrag’s Bomb to destroy it. Repeat for all three.
• Return to Bouldercrag the Rockshaper at Bouldercrag’s Refuge.

Efficiency Tips

• Always pair with Hit Them Where it Hurts. The Artificers guarding the forges and patrolling Narvir’s Cradle count toward the 10-kill requirement. You’ll kill most or all of the required Artificers just clearing forge guards and nearby patrols.
• You must be dismounted and on the ground to use the bomb. Attempting to use it while flying or mounted will fail and may dismount you. Land first, clear guards, then bomb.
• Don’t confuse Narvir’s Cradle with Nidavelir. The dwarf-head forges at the Nidavelir area (where you destroyed Loken’s artifacts earlier) are NOT the correct targets. The forges you need are at the Colossus construction site to the south, the area with the giant unfinished iron golem and tents.
• Work north to south. The North Forge has the most guards (2 Artificers), so clearing it first while you’re at full health/mana is efficient. The Central and South Forges have only 1 guard each.

Lore & Context

Bouldercrag admits to “folly” in dismissing Narvir’s Cradle as merely a grotesque monument to Loken’s ego. Now that you’ve revealed the dark armor is saronite-infused (from The Armor’s Secrets chain), he understands the construction site is building a weapon designed to annihilate the earthen refuge.

The strategy here is sabotage, not destruction. Bouldercrag’s completion text is pragmatic: destroying the forges won’t stop the iron dwarves permanently, but it buys time by forcing them to rebuild. This sets up the escalation in the next quests, where the earthen realize they need to strike at the Colossus itself before it can be completed.

Narvir’s Cradle is named after Overseer Narvir, who commands the construction project. He becomes relevant in later quests (A Colossal Threat) when you steal his construction documents.
