“According to the documents you captured at Narvir’s Cradle, the iron colossus is complete except for one key component — the Heart of the Storm. Without it, the iron colossus’ weapons would be much weaker than the design predicts. If we can deny Overseer Narvir the heart, we could defeat the colossus! Notes on the documents you found say that the heart is in Uldis, a titan facility far to the south.
Its entrance is on the south side of a tall mountain overlooking the Bor’s Breath River.”

Lore & Context
This is one of those quests where the story requires you to fail. Bouldercrag sends you to retrieve the Heart of the Storm before Overseer Narvir can, but Narvir is already there waiting. His dialogue is pointed: “You didn’t think that I was going to let you walk in here and take the Heart of the Storm, did you?” and “You may have killed Valduran, but that will not stop me from completing the colossus.”
Narvir’s taunt reveals that Valduran was replaceable. The construction project at Narvir’s Cradle was always Narvir’s operation (the cradle is literally named after him), and Valduran was simply the military commander protecting it. With Valduran dead and the forges destroyed, Narvir has adapted: he’s gone directly to secure the one component that makes the Iron Colossus truly dangerous.
Bouldercrag’s completion text pivots from hope to grim resolve: “With the heart in the hands of Narvir, the colossus will achieve its full power! We’ll have no choice but to fight it.”
The sabotage strategy is over. The next and final quest, The Iron Colossus, is a direct confrontation with the completed weapon.
Uldis itself is a titan facility whose original purpose remains unclear. Its “Uld-” prefix connects it to the broader titan infrastructure in Storm Peaks: Ulduar (the prison/city), Uldaman (in the Badlands), and Uldum (in Tanaris/Cataclysm). The Bronzebeard brothers visited Uldis after the war against the Jailer, and even Brann couldn’t determine what the machinery was originally built for.

Vikstone's War Journal“According to the documents you captured at Narvir’s Cradle, the iron colossus is complete except for one key component,” Bouldercrag said. “The Heart of the Storm.

A tall mountain overlooking the Bor’s Breath River. He said it as though I might not know the one.
That is the Temple of Storms peak. There is a titan facility cut into the southern side of it and Thorim never once mentioned it.
Uldis goes down rather than in. The chambers are the same cold, exact work as the Inventor’s Library and the Makers’ Perch, and there was nothing alive in any of them.
The Heart sat at the bottom on a pedestal.
I put a hand on it, and the wind took me.
“You didn’t think that I was going to let you walk in here and take the Heart of the Storm, did you?”
Overseer Narvir had been in that chamber the whole time and I had not seen him. The cyclone had me a foot off the floor and turning, and it held me there for the better part of half a minute, which is not a long while unless you are spending it watching a man walk unhurried to a pedestal.
“You may have killed Valduran, but that won’t stop me from completing the colossus.”
He took it. Then he was not there, and neither was it, and the wind put me down on the stone.
There is a word in the orders Bouldercrag gave me that I did not weigh properly at the time. Try to find the Heart before Narvir does.
“Tell me that the heart didn’t fall into enemy hands,” Bouldercrag said.
We’d lost. Now we’d have to win the hard way.
Narvir walked out of Uldis with the last piece and Bouldercrag stopped talking about denying him anything, because the weapon would be finished by morning and the only thing left to do was stand in front of The Iron Colossus.
