“The Conflagration, the ground before Corp’rethar, south of the Ironwall Rampart, is where the Lich King’s elite soldiers have formed up to defend the citadel. Led by a contingent of death knights, a legion of skeletal reavers bars the way. I fear that even when these reavers fall, the Scourge will simply reconstitute them and send them back at us. I’ve come up with a plan to stop this, but I have no way of knowing if it will work.
Take this solution and use it to dissolve the remains of the reavers.”

Combat Tips
The Reavers themselves are straightforward melee-only elites. The challenge comes from the surrounding area, which is populated by patrolling Scourge Death Knights and flying Frostwyrm Matriarchs that can add to your fight unexpectedly.
| Factor | Details |
|---|---|
| Reaver HP | ~63,000 (level 80 Elite) |
| Reaver Damage | ~1,500 on cloth, ~600-700 on plate; melee only |
| CC Susceptibility | Rootable, snareable; immune to Fear/Horror |
| Real Danger | Scourge DK patrols and flying Frostwyrm Matriarchs in the area |
Efficiency Tips
Lore Context
The Scourge can reconstitute fallen Skeletal Reavers and send them right back into battle. The Volatile Acid is an experimental countermeasure, dissolving the remains so completely that the Scourge cannot reassemble them.
Your success here proves the acid works, allowing the combined Ebon Blade and airship forces to use it during the full-scale assault on Corp’rethar. This is the last “proof of concept” quest before the chain pushes you directly to the gates of the Horror Gate itself.

Vikstone's War Journal“The Conflagration, the ground before Corp’rethar, south of the Ironwall Rampart, is where the Lich King’s elite soldiers have formed up to defend the citadel,” Thassarian said. “Led by a contingent of death knights, a legion of skeletal reavers bars the way. I have no way of knowing if it will work. That is the second commander this month to hand me something and say that. The other one was Lankral, about burning banners, and he was at least amusing about it.
Mardagan was on the deck. He looked at the flask, looked at where I was walking, and picked up his hammer.
The Conflagration is bare ground and Corp’rethar’s gates stand at the end of it.
The reavers wear armor cut off men who were better than most. They fight like it, too. These are not the shambling things from the Broken Front; they were good at killing before somebody died them. Six went down and none of them went down cheaply. Mardagan’s Light takes the dark out of whatever is holding the frame together and then the frame is only bone, and I break bone.
Then the flask, on each of them in turn.
It hisses and keeps hissing, and what is left afterward is a wet stain and nothing anybody could raise. It is the same principle as the cauldron at Mord’rethar, where five of us stood in the acid to make more of it. Ends at the body. Nobody gets to use it twice.
Mardagan watched the first one go and nodded, and I understood him. In this country nothing finishes. That did.
Corp’rethar draws its strength from something buried underneath it, and the next order was to go down there and Shatter the Shards.
