Walkthrough

Locate Your Targets

All three mob types are in the Valley of Fallen Heroes, west of Aldur’thar. They occupy two distinct clusters:

• Scourge Converters: Found closer to the gate at approximately [47.8, 40.2]. These are the caster mobs that “convert” fallen spirits into Scourge soldiers using an ability called Grip of the Scourge.
• Scourge Banner-Bearers and Converted Heroes: Found together further southwest around [43.8, 56.6], closer to the Ironwall Rampart.

Converted Heroes: Handle with Care

The Converted Heroes are the main threat here, and they hit harder than typical non-elite mobs. Key details:

• CC-immune. They cannot be rooted, snared, frost trapped, or otherwise crowd-controlled. Mages report Frost Nova fails, hunters report concussive shot has no effect, and Feign Death does not drop aggro from them.
• Incapacitating Shout reduces your movement speed by 60% for 8 seconds, making it hard to kite away once engaged.
• Mortal Strike deals 150% weapon damage and cuts healing received by 50% for 5 seconds. Healers and self-healing classes should plan around this debuff.
• Despite appearing in intimidating packs, the groups are not linked. You can single-pull from the edge of a pack if you approach carefully. Walk slowly toward the last mob in a line until you aggro just one, then back up and kill it. Repeat. Do not use multi-target abilities like Chain Lightning near a pack.

Banner-Bearers: Kill on Sight

The quest text states that the banners empower the Converted Heroes and that killing Banner-Bearers weakens them. In practice, some report this buff does not appear to function. Regardless, Banner-Bearers are low-threat targets and should be killed early when found near groups of Converted Heroes just to keep the area clear.

Scourge Converters

These casters are found near the Aldur’thar gate area. They have a ranged slow (likely Frostbolt-based), so close the distance quickly or pull them behind terrain to line-of-sight their casts. Only 5 needed, and they’re more spread out than the Converted Heroes.

Efficiency Tips

• Do Alongside: Pick up The Ironwall Rampart and Blinding the Eyes in the Sky before heading down. Both share the Valley of Fallen Heroes as their quest area, saving a full extra trip. The Ironwall Rampart is a Group quest, so save it for when a partner is available or attempt it solo if well-geared.
• Solo Strategy: Start with Converters near the gate (quick 5 kills), then move southwest to the Banner-Bearer/Hero area. Single-pull Heroes from pack edges. Ranged classes have an easier time here since you can pick off stragglers without walking into packs.
• Pet Classes: Set pets to Passive. An aggressive pet will chain-pull the nearby Heroes and create an ugly situation fast. Warlocks should use Voidwalker to tank while you burn targets down.
• Melee Classes: Clear any nearby wandering mobs before engaging Converted Heroes. The Mortal Strike healing debuff and their CC immunity mean you cannot kite or reset easily. Use defensive cooldowns if you accidentally pull two.
• Expect a Grind: 30 total kills in a high-density area takes time. Budget 15-20 minutes solo, less in a group.
