“An old foe of yours has returned: Sigrid Iceborn. Perhaps you remember besting her in a duel upon the Savage Ledge? No matter, she certainly remembers you. She’s insisting upon a chance to prove herself once more. Personally, I think it’s more a chance for revenge, but that too can be useful in this place.
I leave it up to you, Vikstone. Will you face Sigrid Iceborn once more?”

Defeat Sigrid Iceborn (Upgraded)
This is not the same non-elite Sigrid you fought at Savage Ledge. She has trained since your last encounter and is now an elite Hyldnir shield-maiden with significantly more health and damage.
| Ability | Effect | How to Handle |
|---|---|---|
| Frostbite Weapon | Melee proc: 330-370 Frost damage + 50% movement slow for 5 sec | The central mechanic of the fight. The slow stacks with her melee pressure, making repositioning difficult. Cleanse with shapeshift (Druids), Blessing of Freedom (Paladins), Cloak of Shadows (Rogues), or power through it. Fate Rune of Fleet Feet (+15% speed) directly offsets the slow. |
| Disengage | Leaps backward away from her target | Creates distance, then she re-engages. Melee should save gap-closers (Charge, Intercept, Shadowstep, Death Grip) for after she Disengages. Ranged classes benefit since she voluntarily moves away from you. |
This is a straightforward single-target burn with one gimmick: the Frostbite movement slow. Your approach depends entirely on how your class handles being slowed while taking sustained melee damage.
| Class/Role | Strategy | Key Abilities |
|---|---|---|
| Plate DPS/Tank (Warrior, Paladin, DK) | Stand and trade blows. Self-heal through the damage. Easiest approach. | DK: Death Strike sustain, Icebound Fortitude for emergencies. Paladin: Seal of Light + Judgement of Light for passive healing, bubble if needed. Warrior: Shield Wall, Enraged Regeneration, Victory Rush if available. |
| Hunter | Pet tanks while you DPS from range. Frostbite slow is irrelevant since she’s hitting the pet, not you. | Mend Pet constantly. Distracting Shot if pet loses aggro. Frost Trap at your feet as insurance. Any spec works. |
| Warlock | Pet tanks (Voidwalker or Felguard). DoT and Health Funnel. Her Disengage works in your favor since she jumps away from your pet, giving it a breather. | Demonic Empowerment on cooldown. Health Funnel when pet drops below 60%. Soulshatter if you pull aggro. |
| Feral Druid | Bear form for survivability. Shapeshift to break the Frostbite slow component if needed. | Frenzied Regeneration + Survival Instincts for emergencies. Shapeshift clears snares. |
| Balance Druid | Root with Entangling Roots, DPS at range, re-root when she breaks free. Frostbite slow barely matters at range. | Treants for extra damage/distraction. Rejuv + Regrowth between roots for self-sustain. |
| Mage | Frost Nova + Blink kiting. Sigrid is melee, so keeping distance is your win condition. Remove Curse if she applies any debuffs. | Mirror Image to split aggro. Ice Barrier/Mana Shield for insurance. Ice Block if things go wrong. |
| Shadow Priest | Shield up, DoTs running, kite in circles. Dispersion for emergencies. | Power Word: Shield before Frostbite procs. Renew between Shadow casts. Psychic Horror or Fear for breathing room. |
| Rogue | Stun-lock burst windows, Evasion for free melee time, Vanish to reset if needed. | Kidney Shot for guaranteed damage windows. Evasion early. Cloak of Shadows to clear Frost debuffs. |
| Enhancement Shaman | Wolves out, trade blows and self-heal with Maelstrom Weapon procs. | Spirit Wolves for extra DPS + healing. Shamanistic Rage for damage reduction. Instant Ghost Wolf to reposition if slowed. |
| Resto/Elemental Shaman | Kite with Frost Shock slow, self-heal. Fire Elemental Totem adds significant DPS. Ghost Wolf for repositioning. | Fire Elemental Totem on pull. Riptide + Chain Heal yourself. Ghost Wolf instantly to escape melee if slowed. |

The Rematch
This fight is the payoff for Sigrid’s promise back at Savage Ledge: “You fight well, little one. I am bested for now. We will meet again I assure you. When we do I will be better prepared!”
She has delivered on that promise. Her Valhalas dialogue reveals she has since won the Hyldsmeet (the vrykul female warrior trials from Storm Peaks) and trained at Valkyrion, the val’kyr proving grounds. She also acquired a proto-drake, which Geirrvif specifically bans from the fight.
Sigrid is a Hyldnir, one of the elite female vrykul warriors. The Hyldnir and their trials are explored in Storm Peaks, where players encounter their stronghold at Brunnhildar Village. Sigrid’s journey from Savage Ledge challenger to Hyldsmeet champion to Valhalas contender is a complete character arc told across multiple quests and zones.
Despite her upgrades, she falls again. This time permanently.
Geirrvif announces: “[Name] has defeated Sigrid Iceborn for a second time. Well, this time [he/she] did it with the help of [his/her] friends, but a win is a win!”

Vikstone's War Journal“An old foe of yours has returned: Sigrid Iceborn.

Then, before I had given her an answer: “I can hear Sigrid Iceborn approaching from the northwest. She has been informed that she cannot use her proto-drake in battle here. Do not leave the battle ring!”
“Sigrid Iceborn has returned to the heights of Jotunheim to prove herself against Vikstone. When last they met, Vikstone bested her in personal combat. Let us see the outcome of this match.”
The proto-drake came in high over the arena and circled.
Mardagan looked over at me. “Friend of yours?”
“Something like that.”
“Ah, there you are!” Sigrid was off the drake’s back before it finished the turn. “Remember me? Of course you do! Wait right there, I’m coming down.”
She hit the ice with the axe already up. “I told you I’d be better prepared when next we meet. I’ve fought and won the Hyldsmeet, trained at Valkyrion, and here I am. Come and get some!”
She won the Hyldsmeet. I was in the Hyldsmeet. I went through the whole of that contest wearing a disguise, and I have no way of knowing whether the two of us were ever put in the same ring. If she beat me at Valkyrion, she does not know she did.
She was quicker than she had been on the ledge and heavier through the shoulders for the training, and she still fought all fury and no focus, everything committed and nothing kept back.
Her axe came down on the shield. Mardagan and Superjosh went wide with the Ebon Blade knights while I carried the weight. She did not care that they were there. She never once turned her head to look for them.
“Fight me!” she said when Superjosh tried to close, and she put his hammer aside without breaking stride.
Mardagan took the opening that cost her and drove his shield into her flank, which bought enough for me to stop retreating. When she overextended the mace went into her ribs. She staggered, the paladins came in from both sides, and she swung wild trying to hold the middle of it.
Sigrid went down a second time.
Her drake screamed from up there and stayed up there. Geirrvif had told her before she landed that it was not permitted, and Sigrid took the ruling and came down alone to fight four of us anyway.
“The defeat of one of the hyldnir is mildly impressive, Night Elf, but you did have the help of your friends. You’re lucky that her drake didn’t get involved.”
Superjosh was rubbing the place where she had swatted his hammer away. “She hit harder than the nerubian.”
“She had a reason to,” Mardagan said.
Two rounds of warriors with grudges gave way to the thing the Fleshwerks had been building all along, and Geirrvif sends it in under the name Carnage!
