Walkthrough

Orik bids you farewell: “You have honored me and honored the memory of hundreds of Alliance veterans. Zelig was wise in sending you here. Please return to him and give him my thanks.”

Fly or ride northwest back to Wintergarde Keep and speak with Zelig the Visionary in his tower. Zelig smiles: “It is I who owe you a debt of gratitude, hero. Orik is like a brother to me. You have changed his life and given renewed hope to countless others.”

After turning in, Zelig offers the next quest in the chain: What Secrets Men Hide, which sends you toward Frostmourne Cavern. Two additional quests also unlock at Wintergarde Keep: The Path of Redemption and The Return of the Crusade?, both involving the Scarlet Onslaught at New Hearthglen.

Tips

• Pick your reward wisely. This is the gear payoff for the entire Forgotten Shore storyline. Every reward is thematically named after the ghosts you just freed. Valonforth’s Remembrance (trinket) is the standout for casters, as its spell hit proc is useful for several classes. Check your gear before choosing.
• Grab all three follow-ups before heading out. What Secrets Men Hide (from Zelig), The Path of Redemption, and The Return of the Crusade? all involve the area east of Wintergarde. You can knock out the Scarlet Onslaught quests while progressing the main Frostmourne chain, saving travel time.

Lore & Story Context

This is a brief but satisfying denouement to the Forgotten Shore arc. The quest closes the loop on the chain’s structure: it began with Zelig sending you to find his scrying orb (Imprints on the Past), detoured through Orik’s deeply personal story at the shore, and now returns you to Zelig to report what happened.

Orik’s parting words reveal how much the experience changed him: “I do not have the gift of foresight like Zelig, but I am certain that great things await you, friend.”

Zelig’s completion text confirms the depth of his relationship with Orik: “Orik is like a brother to me.”

This retroactively reframes the entire chain. Zelig didn’t just send you to fetch a scrying orb; he set events in motion specifically because he foresaw that the orb charged with Orik’s emotions could free the Forgotten Shore ghosts.

The “specific instruction” he gave Orik five years ago to channel his feelings into the crystalline orb was preparation for this exact moment. Zelig orchestrated the redemption.

The reward names are a final tribute to the ghosts: Warblade of the Forgotten Footman, Hood of the Forgotten Rifleman, Chestpiece of the Forgotten Captain, Circlet of the Forgotten Mercenary, and Valonforth’s Remembrance (honoring the Captain who led the men toward the shore).

Every item is a memorial.
