This quest introduces the night elf perspective on the Scourge blight. Where Horde forces at Agmar’s Hammer frame the Icemist threat in military terms (the taunka capital was destroyed), Jodi Moonsong approaches it as an ecological crisis.
The land itself is suffering. The Liquid Fire of Elune is drawn from the Stars’ Rest moonwell, connecting Elune’s cleansing power to a very practical battlefield application.
Jodi’s completion text carries quiet sadness: “It is a shame that we cannot heal the bears and elk that have fallen victim to the Scourge presence. At least we can prevent the taint from spreading further.”
The animals can’t be saved. They can only be prevented from becoming vectors for further corruption.
After cleaning up the environmental damage (this quest), you go after the source: the Anub’ar Cultists at Icemist Village whose poisonous suits are spreading the blight (Kill the Cultists), then track down and kill their leader, High Cultist Zangus, in the Pit of Narjun (The High Cultist).

“Night elf, will you assist me?”
The Scourge had moved into Icemist to the north, and wherever they went, they spread their taint. The creatures of the land were suffering.
“Take this vial.” She held out a vial. Glass warmed by moonwell water, filled with the liquid fire of Elune herself. “Please, use the liquid to cleanse the corpses of the blighted wildlife that you find.”
The trek north brought me through corrupted forest. Blighted elk walked across the snow, their bodies twisted by plague, eyes still open in agony. Rabid grizzlies, once lords of these woods, were now reduced to rotting masses.
I knelt beside the first elk.
The liquid fire of Elune is not true fire. It cleanses. When I poured it over the corrupted flesh, the silver light spread, pushing back the darkness that had seeped into every fiber. The body didn’t ignite. It simply… settled.
I moved from corpse to corpse, giving each the blessing it deserved.
Twelve creatures cleansed by the time the vial ran dry. None of them had done anything wrong except exist in a world where the Lich King’s shadow fell.
This was the work I had been trained for, once, before the war, before Namarie and Lunara. The priests and druids of my people understand that death is part of the cycle, that Elune watches over the passage from one existence to the next. I had strayed far from those teachings, but my hands still remembered.
“It is a shame that we cannot heal the bears and elk that have fallen victim to the Scourge presence.” Moonsong spoke the way kaldorei do when the forest is dying around them. “At least we can prevent the taint from spreading further. We have done what we can for the creatures of the land. Now we must take direct action against those that have caused this.”
I still had the empty vial. I kept it.
Moonsong had worked out that the Anub’ar cultists at Icemist were spreading it through those poisonous suits of theirs, which means somebody had better Kill the Cultists.
