Killinger the Den Watcher at the D.E.H.T.A. Encampment in the Borean Tundra wants you to kill Nedar, Lord of Rhinos and his companion, “Lunchbox.”

Walkthrough
Location: Nedar patrols on the high bluffs west of Lake Kum’uya, wandering between approximately [47, 44], [46, 42], and [48, 40]. His patrol circuit is large (roughly 300 yards radius from spawn point), so you may need to search. He rides among the Wooly Rhino Bulls.
Targeting Tip: Use /target “Lunchbox” (include the quotation marks, they’re part of the name) to quickly locate the pair.
The Fight: Two Targets
You must kill both Nedar and Lunchbox for quest credit.

WARNING: Extremely Fast Respawn
This encounter has one of the fastest respawn timers in the game. There are consistent reports that respawns are as short as 10-30 seconds.
Combat Strategies
Standard Approach: Kill Lunchbox first (the mount is weaker), then finish Nedar on foot.
CC Approach: If you can crowd-control, sap, or stun Nedar while killing Lunchbox, then bandage/heal before engaging the elite.
Hunter Strategy: Lay a Frost Trap to freeze Lunchbox, then DPS Nedar directly. Alternatively, have your pet tank Lunchbox while you range down Nedar.
Druid Strategy: Hibernate Lunchbox (beasts are vulnerable), then destroy Nedar from range. His bow attacks do minimal damage.
Caster Strategy: Fear works on both targets. DoT and kite.
Priest Mind Control Trick: You can mind-control Nedar and use him to kill his own rhino.
Pull Timing: If you pull right when Nedar spawns, the interaction between him and Lunchbox sometimes bugs, and the mount doesn’t aggro properly.
Story Context: A Tainted Beast
Killinger the Den Watcher is a tauren druid who watches over the rhino herds. His description of Nedar drips with contempt:
“West of here, on the high bluffs above Lake Kum’uya, roams a despicable being known as Nedar. The self proclaimed ‘Lord of Rhinos’ hunts the wastes for the injured or young – rhinos unable to defend themselves against Ned’s cowardly attacks.”
“To add insult to injury, Ned has raised a rhino of his own to become his mount and bodyguard. It is a rare thing that D.E.H.T.A. would ever call for the death of an animal, but Ned’s tainted rhino must be disposed of… Kill them both and return to me.”
Upon completion:
“At least for now the rhinos will know peace. Thank you, <name>.”
This quest represents a moral compromise for D.E.H.T.A. The organization normally refuses to harm animals under any circumstances. But Lunchbox has been “tainted” by Nedar’s corruption, raised as a weapon against its own kind. D.E.H.T.A. views euthanizing this corrupted animal as a mercy, not a violation of their principles.
Trivia: Originally a Kodo
In the original WotLK release (Patch 3.0.2), Lunchbox used a Black War Kodo model despite the quest describing him as a rhino.
This was corrected in Patch 3.1.0 (April 2009), which updated Lunchbox’s model to an actual rhino.
Easter Egg: Pushing Daisies Reference?
There may be a connection to the TV series Pushing Daisies. In the show’s Season 1 Episode 8 “Bitter Sweets” (aired November 28, 2007), the character Chuck calls the main character “Ned” the “Lord of the Pies.” Ned owns a pie restaurant called “The Pie Hole.”

He paused.
“It is a rare thing that D.E.H.T.A. would ever call for the death of an animal. But Ned’s tainted rhino must be disposed of. Kill them both.”
Tainted was a convenient word for an inconvenient exception.
I found them on the western bluffs. Nedar sat atop “Lunchbox,” an armored rhino large enough to crush a man without slowing. The self-styled Lord of Rhinos scanned the landscape for easy prey, unaware his title was about to become ironic.
The rhino charged first, and exactly where I wanted him. I sidestepped the horn, got inside his turn radius, and went to work on his legs. A beast that size can’t fight what it can’t reach. It took time, and I didn’t enjoy it.
Nedar came screaming off his fallen mount. He did not put up a good fight, and I let him swing himself tired, then ended it.
Killinger nodded when I returned.
“At least for now the rhinos will know peace.”
