“My own father was slain by the leader of this raiding party, Gamel the Cruel. He has made his abode inside a cave on the beach. You’ve dealt with his men already. Finish what you’ve started, Vikstone. Avenge my father and I will share with you what little I still have.”

You will be able to choose one of these rewards:
Upon completion of this quest you will gain:
Quest Giver/Turn In: Karuk at Riplash Strand [47, 75]
Objective: Defeat Gamel the Cruel at Riplash Strand.
Quick Facts
Walkthrough
Step 1: Find the Cave
From Karuk, head south into Riplash Strand. Gamel’s cave is at [46, 78], inside a freestanding rock formation on the beach. The cave entrance faces the ocean.
Visual Cue: Look for a fire visible behind Karuk’s position. The cave entrance is near this fire, with a few raiders patrolling outside.
Step 2: Enter and Kill Gamel
Gamel is inside the cave, guarded by two kneeling Skadir bodyguards at the entrance.
Stealth Option: Rogues and Druids can stealth past the two kneeling guards and attack Gamel directly without pulling them.
Combat Notes:
Step 3: Return to Karuk
After killing Gamel, return to Karuk to complete the quest.
Tips
Respawn Timer: Gamel has approximately a 3-minute respawn timer. If you linger in the cave after killing him, he may respawn and attack you. Retreat promptly after the kill.
Group Scenario: If you arrive and Gamel is dead, wait briefly. The short respawn means he’ll be back soon.
Story Context
Karuk (quest text): “My own father was slain by the leader of this raiding party, Gamel the Cruel. He has made his abode inside a cave on the beach.”
“You’ve dealt with his men already. Finish what you’ve started, <name>. Avenge my father and I will share with you what little I still have.”
Progress: “Did you defeat Gamel, <class>?”
Completion: “You did it, <name>! The spirits of the slain tuskarr can now rest in peace – their deaths have been avenged!”
With Gamel dead, Karuk believes his blood duty is complete. His father Ariut can rest peacefully knowing his killer has been destroyed. But as the follow-up quest reveals, the spirits of the fallen tuskarr are not yet at peace…
Lore: Gamel the Cruel
Gamel the Cruel is the main leader of the Skadir clan. He personally killed Karuk’s father Ariut during the Skadir’s attack on the tuskarr village of Pal’ea. Now he commands his forces from a cave on Riplash Strand, directing raids across the coast.
With both Gamel dead and his raiders culled, the Skadir’s leadership is broken. But the clan still operates through other leaders like Ragnar Drakkarlund, who pursues an even more dangerous scheme: awakening the imprisoned kraken Leviroth.
Quest Completion Event: Ariut’s Ghost
Upon turning in this quest, Karuk’s father Ariut appears as a ghost and speaks:
“The fallen of Pal’ea will not find rest, son. Find the naga priestess!”
Karuk thought vengeance would bring peace. Instead, his father’s spirit reveals that something still holds the fallen tuskarr in unrest. The answer lies with Veehja, a naga priestess the Kvaldir have kept prisoner at the Shrine of Scales. This ghostly visitation sets up the next phase of the storyline.

Vikstone's War Journal“My own father was slain by the leader of this raiding party. Gamel the Cruel.” Karuk said the name like it tasted of ash. “He has made his abode inside a cave on the beach. You’ve dealt with his men already. Finish what you’ve started.”

The cave mouth gaped between two ice-crusted rocks, with two Skadir raiders standing guard at the entrance. They died before they could raise an alarm.
Inside, the air was thick with brine and something rotting. Gamel waited at the back, illuminated by phosphorescent lichen clinging to the walls. He was larger than his men, barnacles crusted across his shoulders, and when he saw me he smiled with teeth that had no business being in a mortal mouth.
The Kvaldir chieftain’s strikes came slow and heavy, like swinging an anchor, and when one caught my shield it nearly buckled my arm. But he was predictable, telegraphing his heaviest blows.
His body dissolved like the others, leaving only seaweed and the faint smell of the abyss.
Karuk’s hands were shaking when I returned.
“You did it. The spirits of the slain tuskarr can now rest in peace.” His voice cracked. “Their deaths have been avenged.”
Then the air grew cold in a way that had nothing to do with Northrend. A shape materialized beside us. A tuskarr, translucent, wounds still visible on his spectral form.
“The fallen of Pal’ea will not find rest, son.” Ariut’s ghost fixed his eyes on Karuk. “Find the naga priestess.”
Karuk stared at his father’s spirit.
Whatever was holding the dead of Pal’ea in unrest had not been fixed by vengeance, and A Father’s Words were the only instruction he had left to follow.
