Zero Tolerance

Alliance • Zul'Drak • Level 75 • Reliquary of Pain
Use the Scepter of Empowerment on a Servant of Drakuru and use its abilities to defeat Darmuk at [30, 49].
Use a level 76 Servant. Pet bar gives 3 abilities: Ferocious Enrage (use once at start), Gut Rip (use on cooldown), Stunning Force (save for Darmuk's red enrage only). Must trigger Darmuk's aggro event first ("Your disguise doesn't fool me, fleshling!") or Servant damage is halved. Position at the western end of his platform, let him walk toward you, then send the Servant in. Don't attack Darmuk yourself (breaks disguise). If the Servant dies, charm another or finish him off directly. Dismiss all pets before starting.
Vikstone's Classic Expedition
The crime was a spoiled batch of blight. The sentence was execution by proxy. Vikstone memorized every detail of how Drakuru ran his operation, because everything he learned would hurt worse when he burned it down.

“Ignorance! Dis be intolerable, mon! My entire batch of blight be useless! Dat mongrel, Darmuk! He be responsible for watchin over da blight. He failed me, mon! Dis be a good lesson for ya, Vikstone. Failure be like a disease dat spreads. Ya gotta catch it and kill it early, before it be killin’ you! Take dis scepter. It make my scourged trolls stronger. Use dem ta kill Darmuk. He be lurkin’ down below just to da south.

Let dat be an example to all, mon. Don’t be failin’ Drakuru!”

-Overlord Drakuru

Objective

LEVEL

75

Requires level

74

Overlord Drakuru in Voltarus wants you to go to the Reliquary of Pain and use the Scepter of Empowerment on a Servant of Drakuru. You are then to use its abilities to defeat Darmuk.

  • Darmuk Slain
  • Scepter of Empowerment (Provided)

Preparation:
Ensure your Scourge Disguise Choker is active. If it drops during the fight, you will lose the quest's mechanics and fail.
Dismiss any active pets if you’re a Hunter, Warlock, or Death Knight to avoid disrupting the quest mechanics.
Locate level 76 Servants of Drakuru. Their level affects their stats, so avoid using level 75 Servants as they will die quickly.
Location:
Darmuk is at 31, 49, south of Voltarus, on an elevated platform. Blightguards patrol the area, so clear them or avoid them before engaging Darmuk.

Walkthrough

Quest Giver: Overlord Drakuru — Voltarus, Zul’Drak

Objective: Use the Scepter of Empowerment on a Servant of Drakuru, then use its abilities to defeat Darmuk.

Quick Facts

  • Level: 75
  • Location: South of Voltarus, elevated platform around [30, 49]
  • Chain Position: Drakuru’s task for Hazardous Materials. Completing Zero Tolerance satisfies the Drakuru portion. You also need to steal 5 Harvested Blight Crystals inside Voltarus (Stefan’s sabotage objective) before turning in Hazardous Materials.
  • Next Quest: Sabotage (from Stefan Vadu)

Walkthrough

Preparation

  • Refresh your Ensorcelled Choker disguise before starting. You don’t want it expiring mid-fight.
  • Dismiss any active pets (Hunters, Warlocks, Death Knights).
  • Take the teleporter down from Voltarus and head south to the raised platform at [30, 49]. Darmuk is a level 76 elite scourged troll patrolling the top.
  • Clear any Blightguards near the platform using your controlled Servant before engaging Darmuk. Blightguards see through your disguise and will ruin the fight if they wander in. Your Servant can kill them without breaking your cover.

Controlling a Servant

  • Target a Servant of Drakuru near the platform and use the Scepter of Empowerment. Use a level 76 Servant if possible. Level matters here, and level 75 Servants die noticeably faster.
  • You’ll get a pet action bar with three abilities:
    • Ferocious Enrage (Ability 1): Damage buff. Use once at the start; lasts 2 minutes.
    • Gut Rip (Ability 2): Bleed/DoT. Use on cooldown throughout the fight.
    • Stunning Force (Ability 3): Stun. Save this for when Darmuk enrages (turns red). Do not spam it on cooldown. Stunning him during his enrage phase is the single most important mechanic in this fight. It prevents his heaviest damage and stops his dodge buff.
  • If the pet bar doesn’t appear: Try CTRL+1 through CTRL+6 to access abilities, or type /console reloadui. Bartender and other action bar addons can hide the pet bar.

The Fight

  • Critical step: You need to trigger Darmuk’s aggro event. Walk your Servant toward Darmuk and make sure he notices you. He should say “Your disguise doesn’t fool me, fleshling!” When this event triggers, your Servant deals proper damage (800-1000+ per hit). Without it, your Servant only hits for 300-400 and will die before Darmuk reaches half health.
  • This triggers most reliably when you position yourself at the western end of Darmuk’s platform and let him walk toward you. Others have success at the northern edge. The key is that Darmuk must aggro on you personally and deliver his line before you send the Servant in.
  • Do not attack Darmuk with your own abilities. This breaks your disguise and causes nearby mobs to aggro.
  • With proper enrage buff, Gut Rip on cooldown, and Stunning Force used only during Darmuk’s red enrage phases, a single level 76 Servant can kill him.

If Your Servant Dies

  • Don’t panic. Quickly use the Scepter on another nearby Servant and send it in. Darmuk has a large aggro leash, so you have some time before he resets.
  • Alternatively, many classes can finish Darmuk off directly if he’s low on health. You’ll lose your disguise, but you still get quest credit for killing him by any means. Ranged classes and kiters have a particularly easy time since Darmuk moves slowly.

Efficiency Tips

  • After killing Darmuk, return to Voltarus and collect 5 Harvested Blight Crystals from the glowing boxes along the corridors inside the necropolis (for Hazardous Materials). Then teleport down and summon Stefan with his horn, or return to Ebon Watch.
  • If your disguise drops at the start and the Servant approach isn’t working for you, many classes can simply solo Darmuk the old-fashioned way. He’s slow, rootable, and susceptible to snares. Mages, Druids, and Hunters in particular can kite him with ease.

Class-Specific Tips

  • Warlocks: You can use Health Funnel on your Servant without breaking your disguise. This makes the fight significantly easier.
  • Hunters: Aspect of the Beast increases your Servant’s damage by 10% while disguised.
  • Death Knights: Dismiss your ghoul before starting. If the Servant approach fails, you can also use Control Undead on a Servant directly, bypassing the Scepter mechanic entirely.
  • Druids: The pet bar may not appear in its normal location due to shapeshift bar conflicts. Check above your keyring area or use CTRL+1 shortcuts.

“Failure be like a disease dat spreads,” Drakuru snarled. “Ya gotta catch it and kill it early, before it be killin’ you!”

Vikstone Portrait Act 2

The crime: Darmuk let a batch of blight spoil. The sentence: public execution. The method: me, empowering one of Drakuru’s servants to tear him apart while the others watched.

“Let dat be an example to all, mon. Don’t be failin’ Drakuru!”

Found Darmuk in the Reliquary of Pain. He knew why I’d come. The empowered servant did the work. Quick, at least.

“Ya done good. You be learnin’ faster than I had hoped.”

Learning. Yes. Learning exactly how Drakuru ran his operation. Learning what would hurt most when I burned it down.

Darmuk died as an example. The next lesson starts with the name on the label in Fuel for the Fire.
